Ryu's new Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition V-Trigger looks familiar...

Capcom taking inspiration from Ultra Street Fighter 4's Omega Mode?

Over the weekend we saw the latest Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition trailer, which gave us our first real glimpse at some of the new V-Triggers we'll be seeing at launch.

Naturally, the Street Fighter poster boy was included in the trailer festivities. Ryu's new V-Trigger, as far as we can tell, gives him a powered up parry that grounds the opponent and puts them into a crumple state, allowing for a follow up attack.

Twitter user Jon W pointed out that the animation for this new V-Trigger looks strikingly similar to Ryu's parry in Ultra Street Fighter 4's Omega Mode.

By pressing forward + both heavy buttons in Omega Mode, Ryu can absorb an oncoming attack -- he can parry multiple hits by using the same input and the proper timing. If you press all three punches at the time of parrying, Ryu with fire back with a large strike that sends the opponent flying toward the corner of the stage.

Though the effect of the attack is different -- as we mentioned previously, in Street Fighter 5 Ryu gets a crumple state -- the animation is nearly identical.

It would seem that, in Ryu's case, Capcom took some inspiration from Omega Mode to design the new V-Trigger. We can't help but wonder if there are more clues of what's to come hidden in the Ultra Street Fighter 4 game mode.
