Capcom Cup 2017 is drawing closer by the day, and a lot of top level players are ready to test their skills against eachother at the grand event.

In an effort to build hype for this, we've decided to reach out to the qualified Capcom Cup players, and will be bringing you interviews with as many as possible of the players set to participate in the event.

Next up is one of the most brightly shining stars of the Street Fighter 5 era, YouDeal|Yukadon. In this interview, he talks about Ibuki's strength as a character, how to make Nash viable again, his fighting game history and more.

Here's a snippet to get you started.

MajinTenshinhan: You've gotten great results in Street Fighter 5, but you weren't very well-known before that. How long have you been playing fighting games?

YouDeal|Yukadon: When I was a kid, I played them from time to time and friends' houses.

Around 2010, I started playing the home version of Street Fighter 4, and once Super Street Fighter 4: Arcade Edition was released in arcades, I started going there to play, too.

Continue below for the full interview.

MajinTenshinhan: You used Nash in last year's Season 1, and in this year's Season 2 you've been using Ibuki. What do you look for when choosing a character?

YouDeal|Yukadon: I highly regard how fun they are to play, while also keeping in mind how easy they are to win with.

In Season 2, Nash got stronger up-close compared to Season 1, but his movement was worsened, making it more difficult to move around with him, and when I felt that I decided to switch characters.

Ibuki is a character with many strong choices, so making intricate decisions on what combo to use and planning thoroughly how to get that K.O is fun.

MajinTenshinhan: If you look at this year's Capcom Pro Tour standings, you're the highest ranked Ibuki player among them all. As one of the most seasoned Ibuki players, how good do you think she is compared to other characters in Season 2?

YouDeal|Yukadon: I think she's at the highest rank of characters, alongside Akuma, Balrog (Boxer) and Rashid.

MajinTenshinhan: Nash was nerfed quite a bit in Season 2, and players using him have almost disappeared entirely. What do you think Nash needs to be "usable" again?

YouDeal|Yukadon: I think the easiest way is to make his dashes and anti-air connections more like in Season 1.

It might be pretty nice if they gave Nash something that nobody else can do - like a projectile that steals super meter or V-Gauge if it hits you, or a move that steals V-Gauge or something. He'd have to do a cool motion with it too, though.

MajinTenshinhan: Next January, Street Fighter 5: Arcade Edition is coming out. What are you hoping to see in this new version?

YouDeal|Yukadon: As long as the game balance doesn't become bad I'm fine with anything, but I definitely want them to reduce loading times and do something about the slowdown issues that can occur.

It would also be nice if they could make Ranking Matches online be better at matching you up with opponents who have a good connection with you and are close to your own ranking.

MajinTenshinhan: What do you think about your chances at Capcom Cup 2017?

YouDeal|Yukadon: From the very beginning, I'm only going up against people I'd rather avoid, so I think I'm going to need some luck.

If I can make it through the first few matches, I think I can take the whole thing, so I'm going to do my best!

Huge thanks to YouDeal|Yukadon for participating in our interview series and we wish you the best of luck at Capcom Cup 2017. Please look forward to more interviews in the coming days.
