Nintendo files for new Super Smash Bros. logo trademark

Seems to imply something new on the fanchise horizon

Potentially exciting news for fans of the Super Smash Bros. franchise as Nintendo has filed for a new Super Smash Bros. logo trademark.

GoNintendo reported on Sunday that gaming powerhouse has filed for a new series of trademarked images for multiple titles including The Legend of Zelda, Splatoon, Animal Crossing and Super Smash Bros.

This could potentially mean a few different things, one of which being a brand new entry to the series.

Alternatively, Nintendo could be gearing up to produce a remake of one of their previous Smash Bros. games (such as Melee or Smash 4) on their latest console, The Switch. It could also be something less major that they're renewing the trademark for.

At this point in time, with no official statement or announcement, there's little more to do but speculate on the matter and get excited that something is somewhere on the horizon.

For reference, you'll see the standard Japanese Smash Bros. logo (without any flair) as well as the Japanese Smash 4 one in the image below:
