X-Men and Fantastic Four rights might be headed to Disney - could we finally see these characters in Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite?

Report says that 21st Century Fox could be looking to sell off most of its company, including movie rights, to Disney

According to CNBC, 21st Century Fox has been in talks with Disney to sell off most of its company. It wouldn't be all of Fox as they would keep their properties that are focused around news and sports.

It is noted that the two companies are not talking at this particular moment, but conversations about this has been ongoing for the last few weeks.

CNBC states that Fox is willing to engage in these talks as the senior management believes that their media attention is of immediate importance. This will allow the company to focus entirely on news and sports.

While it has been reported by Bloomberg that the talks are "dead," it is possible that the conversation could resume. It's still possible that this could happen.

This could mean that Disney would gain movie rights to X-Men and the Fantastic Four. If this should happen, then it would certainly be important for Disney to promote these characters and franchises.

Disney is already the owner of Marvel Comics. They technically already own the X-Men and Fantastic Four intellectual properties -- they just don't own the movie rights.

It is because of this that fans believe characters from these IPs have been omitted from the Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite roster.

As fans already know, the roster is missing quite a number of fan favorite characters. In particular, the fighters from the X-Men series have had players most unhappy as they have appeared in previous Marvel vs. Capcom titles.

Fighters that are no longer present in the latest game but have been before include Wolverine, Storm, Sentinel, Magneto, Gambit, Cyclops, Cable, Colossus, Iceman, Psylocke, Juggernaut, Omega Red, Rogue, Sabretooth, X-23 and Deadpool from the X-Men series. Due to the number of characters present here, its easy to see how important these characters have been to the Marvel vs. Capcom history.

Meanwhile the Fantastic For characters known as Dr. Doom, and Super Skrull are also absent. While the actual members of the Fantastic Four, Mr. Fantastic, Johnny Storm, The Thing, and Invisible Woman, have never actually appeared as playable fighters, they could also be great additions in the future.

Capcom currently has three DLC characters in the game right now, with three more on the way. If they should continue DLC support, it is likely that Disney could push for X-Men and maybe Fantastic Four characters in the future.
