Super damage can be reduced in Injustice 2 by hitting buttons during the animation
Apparently, if you hit buttons during the animation of your opponent's super, you can reduce the damage you take. Originally shared by JT on Twitter, we decided to test this out ourselves to see how it works.
In order to take less damage, you'll have to hit a button in conjunction with the super animation's strikes -- we used the X button. I found most success double tapping the button whenever my opponent made contact with my character.
To determine whether or not you're doing this correctly, keep an eye on your life bar as a small shield icon will pop up every time a chunk of damage is taken away.
Our tests covered training mode and tournament mode, and both generated the same results. If you take advantage of each reduced-damage hit, you can usually shave off between 10 and 20 points. While this isn't huge damage, it could be the deciding factor in any match, so it's good to keep in mind.
After the jump you'll find two of our test examples: raw super and reduced damage.

So, if you find yourself caught in your opponent's super, you might want to try and match the button presses with their strikes for some reduced damage.
