'I can officially leave Chun in the past' - Ricki Ortiz changing characters after rough start in 2017

EG|Ricki Ortiz has been a top level competitor at seemingly every fighting game she sits down to play. From the Alpha series and Third Strike to Street Fighter 4 and 5, we've come to expect the NorCal player to frequent the top eight brackets of most every event she attends.

Her most recent notable performance was at Capcom Cup last December, where she placed second in the world, being outplayed only by Liquid|NuckleDu. Her main character in SF5, Chun-Li, went from being fairly overpowered in Season 1 to being out shined by emerging top tiers of Season 2. Things haven't been going all that well for Ricki since the balance change.

Placing 33rd at Final Round 20 to kick off the year, Ricki would go on to participate in the South by Southwest and ELeague invitational round robin events, finishing both with records of 0-7. Given the caliber of player we're talking about, we have to wonder how much of this is a result of character choice. Ricki stated in an interview that she's actually working on a secondary fighter:

The above interview took place before Ricki's 0-7 run at ELeague, and her post tournament tweets seem to infer that she's making the change more immediate.

We look forward greatly to seeing how Ricki's Cammy fairs at upcoming events, as not only is the character already very strong, but she's getting a brand new air throw in the next update.

Do what extent do you feel this dry streak has been influenced by Chun's abilities in Season 2? Do you think Ricki's performances will be better once she makes the switch to Cammy? Let us know in the comments.
