Alex cannot perform Slash Elbow right after landing Air Knee Smash in current version of Street Fighter 5, check out this strange bug in action

Posted by Steven 'Dreamking23' Chavez • March 20, 2017 at 3:53 p.m. PDT

In Street Fighter 5, Alex uses his Slash Elbow to cover ground quickly and move in on his opponent. But what appears to be a strange bug has been discovered that prevents him from performing the special move after landing his Air Knee Smash (anti-air knee attack) despite having enough time to charge.

Monokeros recorded a quick video demonstrating the oddity.

Unfortunately for Alex players, this prevention goes into effect whenever the Air Knee Smash hits successfully. This means that Alex loses his meaty Slash Elbow pressure (if the opponent goes for normal recovery) whether the attack hits as an anti-air or in combo.

Alex can, however, still perform his down/up charge moves right after the knee smash, meaning this is specific to Slash Elbow.

You can check out the footage after the jump.

What did you expect? Urien still too strong.

His hurtbox probably crosses over the opponent during the ground attack part of the move. Kinda reminds me Decapre couldn't do her charge moves after air grab because she would slightly pull them back before throwing lol.

Maybe they are messing with the character to see how far they can take it before literally nobody is using Alex anymore.

Alex probably got a good meaty set up with light or medium elbow and capcom didnt want him to have it

Sounds about right. With Balrog going unchanged, Alex definitely needs more nerfs.

Would anybody seriously object to Capcom just releasing another version of SFV? Lls Super Street Fighter V! It's pretty much tradition for them to do it. Even SF2 is getting their last little update for the Switch.

This isn't new to the "current version of SF5". It's been like this since he first was available.

And, it could very well be intentional.

DEAR EH:

This isn't a nerf. He never could do this in SF5. This is not new to S2.

When you have people in the comments section acting like this is a change to S2, that's a sign that you're misleading your audience.

IT WAS ALWAYS LIKE THIS, SINCE HE BECAME AVAILABLE LAST YEAR.

I noticed this the first minute season 2 started.

On another note. Ibuki won a tournament? Better nerf Alex.

Lol, sure you did.

Alex already has a good meaty setup after knee. After he dashes in, he's +4 which is the perfect timing for a mix-up (his st.mp and command grab both have 6 frame start-up, so this sets up a true 50/50)

So they took away the HP chop> backdrop on block "bug" but gave us this instead lol
