'The world's most violent game of hacky sack...' - Honest Game Trailers hilariously rips into Tekken, and yes, they go in on SFxT...

Posted by John 'Velociraptor' Guerrero • March 19, 2017 at 5:23 p.m. PDT

It's almost too easy...

Smosh Games has put the world's most recognizable 3D fighter in its cross hairs, and brings us the Honest Trailer for the Tekken franchise.

"The 3D series that's quietly sold more than its more popular cousins, but still doesn't get invited to all the parties..." HGT goes in on everything from the characters (yes there's an obligatory Eddy Gordo jab) to the game's ridiculous story line.

Fans of the series will surely get a laugh out of the video, but fighting game players in general will absolutely be able to appreciate it as well.

Surprised they didn't take a crack at Akuma and Gon's presence or Lucky Chloe.

I quite enjoy Tekken's patented middle finger to physics. Can you imagine how hype juggles would look irl?

So I didn't get into fighting games till a month after ultra hit steam. But, I remember wanting to really play SFxTekken till I herd about the gem system. It would've been my first fighter if it didn't have that stupid gem system damnit.

You didn't have to use the gems... but then again, there were frauds who used auto gems, and they usually coupled that with pre-patch's neon colors... I dont miss that...

Saying you don't need to use the gems is like saying you don't need to anti-air

It's true and you might win every once in a while, but it puts you in a serious disadvantage

Even if you used the gems you might be in a disadvantage if your opponents have the better DLC gems

thats not true at all... the gems dont give you THAT big of an advantage... hell I usually played without them, and it didn;t screw me over at all

Didn't know Tekken was the best selling fighting game franchise of all time. Pretty cool.

Idk about franchise, but if we're talking individual title, it is Smash, but the second one is Tekken and some people don't consider Smash a fighting game, so it's technically Tekken

How did you feel when they said Dan was dead in the world of SFxT?

Tekken 3 sold A LOT on the PS1 back in the day, it was as big as Street Fighter II or maybe even a bit bigger on the console market thanks to the exclusivity. It also helped that the Tekken franchise never went into hiatus unlike Street Fighter.

Right. This here is why I don't understand why people say "blah blah blah but the gem system ruined it for me". No matter what gem or setup you had, there was none that made someone unbeatable. You could hardly find a gem that got you close to it! I think the gems were stupid and pointless, but they HARDLY did anything to interfere with my experience. I will never get that argument.

Tekken franchise has sold 47m copies, Smash has sold 39m. So yeah, whether or not you want to consider Smash part of the list (a party/fighting game...in that specific order), Tekken is still king when it comes to sales.

BTW not relevant at all but since we're in the topic, Street Fighter has sold 38m, Mortal Kombat 35m. And looking at how ridiculously popular MKX was, I wouldn't be surprised MK tops both Smash and SF whith the release of MK11, which is likely 2/3 years from now. SF isn't releasing anything relevant until at least 2020, Smash doesn't seem to have any plans for the Switch (to be honest I think it's too soon to move on from Smash 4 anyways). So unless MK11 becomes a fighting games sales record breaker, Tekken will remain untouchable for a long, long time.

Article about Tekken but we have to mention Street Fighter right? This is such a Capcom website.

Also I was quite dissapointed with this video. They are normally better than this.

"Its almost too easy"

But it always happen.

Tekken isn't really respected on this site it seems. Tekken 7 doesn't even it's own character move/frame data section when more is known about that game than Injustice 2.

Let's all spam in their channel asking for SFV!!!

Kenshiro said on March 20, 2017 at 9:13 a.m.

Capcom is more than just SF.

NRS is MK and Injustice...two games that still borrow heavily from each other.

It was a bit humorous, more quotable than anything.

They already did one in 2015, about the whole series and before SFV's release.
