CODYYY said on March 10, 2017 at 9:21 a.m.

Been pretty excited about this. Shame infiltration is not here though.

Gonna support the home team, Problem x or Phenom to hopefully get into top 8. Momochi and Fuudo are my personal favorites in SFV so i wouldnt mind either of them winning.

Punk and Du will be the most watched players i am guessing, Du because he is the greatest SFV player right now and Punk because of how he has been doing recently.

#4
Cammystrike said on March 10, 2017 at 9:21 a.m.

The line up of players is insane, going to be such a good weekend. Wolkfrone is already starting the drama with K-brad and friends. A chance to see Du and Anbu go at it, so hype for this.

#5

So happy DOA is getting some Sunday love. The game is great to watch.

This entire tournament is going to be so sick... Final Round is always amazing.

I'm especially psyched for some of the games we don't get to see as much, like CvS2.

#7
Skkra said on March 10, 2017 at 9:24 a.m.

A lot of eyes are definitely going to be on Punk. I feel like this weekend could be a showcase for what level he's really on right now.

For the european and early american watchers, tomorrow the 11th we will also have a big 5vs5 team French Cup with a 30000€ cashprize. 24 cities battling each other including all the usual french players, Luffy, Will2pac, Mister Crimson, Valmaster, Alioune, Cuongster, Genius among others.

An entertaining appetizer to watch before Final Round!

#9
MrBrown said on March 10, 2017 at 9:43 a.m.

Wolfkrone has a good shot at making top 8, Laura pressure is just stupid in S2. The drama, I hope K-Brad or Justin or Ricky body him free.

#12
JimmyLoves said on March 10, 2017 at 10:30 a.m.

Hope Wolfkrone has a big showing. So much hate for the guy, while all the other shady people get free passes. There are two sides to every story.

Wolfkrone disconnecting is BS, but there are lots of top players that rage quit.

I'm hoping krone takes out all the favorites.

#13
JimmyLoves said on March 10, 2017 at 10:32 a.m.

Moving from other section:

It seems that this Final Round has less than half the entrants that last year did (for SF5).

I also find it interesting that they didn't even offer SF4 this year. Anyone know why?

Are the numbers correct that in 2014 SF4 had many more entrants than this years SF5?

Anyways, hopefully everyone can stop bashing SF5 as much [even if you hate it] - just in the name of keeping the Capcom gaming community alive.

Ah looks like YellowMotion uploaded the extended video to YouTube already.

I hope it's team Kanakin Tanukana and Anakin vs team FOX Saint and JDCR at Tekken Team finals would be wicked. Congrats to my fav Tekken player being the highest rank Xiaoyu in Japan. She definitely has a chance being in top 8 Sunday finals.

Damn Markman slow down you're killing me with your puns and pop culuture references. Anakin the chosen one and Jack's das boot lol.

Brian could End it quick if he could had use V Skill to counter Momo fireballs at the end

#31
CODYYY said on March 10, 2017 at 4:13 p.m.

Balrog damage is broken. Anyone else would have lost to Brian there. Obviously he is a good player, cant take that from him. But momochi proving that nothing can get into this guys head. Its unreal the clutch moments he can come back from.

Its why he became my favorite street fighter player in SF4. his ken was a joy to watch. NEVER COUNT OUT MOMOCHI IN A MATCH

#32
SSfox said on March 10, 2017 at 4:16 p.m.

Actually Brian had a lot of opportunities to finish him at the end where Momochi threw some Fireball, i was pretty surprise Brian didn't V Skill any of those fireballs. Still tho the guy is super good.

Are you trying to start a flame war between SFIV fanboys? I don't care if you are but that seems like what you are doing way more so than "being insightful on the status of things".

That said SFV is the only fighting game steam I see anywhere near the top of twitch streams, the next fighter I could even find (UMvC3) is like almost 3 pages down.

#39

tell it to sfiv fanboys, whos trying to turn this awesome game to garbage.

#43
Kavey said on March 10, 2017 at 6:09 p.m.

Sad part is its not really effective cause apparently Final Round historically has pools done in one day for SF games but because of amount of entrants alone they split it into two days according to James Chen. So yeah, there goes that.

#44
Diomil said on March 10, 2017 at 7:06 p.m.

Going 0/6 in topanga, early losers in final round. When is Daigo going to wake up and get a different character?

Shin Rick James LOL playing Vega against Problem X. Problem remains unsolved.

I love seeing these guys I've never heard of giving the likes of Du and Momochi a run for their money. SFV is on its way to creating new FGC heroes and even more hype sets. Truly looking forward to this years CPT.

#51
Cammystrike said on March 11, 2017 at 6:58 a.m.

That's an advantage SFV has. It allows a way larger pool of players to reach the highest level. Some people don't like that and want to see the same guys who have been winning for a decade to continue to win. Screw that I want new blood, look how fun Punk is to watch.

#52
fablodibongo said on March 11, 2017 at 6:59 a.m.

even nuckle du is far from the level of top asian players

ParabolaBeam said on March 11, 2017 at 8:18 a.m.

Wasn't Itazan in this tournament? Was he already knocked out?

And here I could've sworn people were up and down swearing Zangief was a top tier threat, haha.

Interestingly enough, Itazan is gone while SnakeEyez is still in top 64.

Also, according to day 1 results (across several games) Go1 is the true MVP so far.

#66
Doh_Simpson said on March 11, 2017 at 9:38 a.m.

I just don't like how players who put in a little work and players who put in a lot and study the game are on the same level just because the game is easier or their character is just top tier.

#67
Nevran said on March 11, 2017 at 9:41 a.m.

Except it isn't the case?

Almost all pro payer/top player are the same that in SFIV, the new ones are just very good player that leveled up like Punk.

They didn't get better because of 3f buffer.

Get real.

#68

#70
Doh_Simpson said on March 11, 2017 at 10:25 a.m.

No there are a couple that just couldn't be of the highest level because they were simply out classed. They were probably a tier lower but now in SFV they are all on one level.

#71
Heta said on March 11, 2017 at 10:46 a.m.

I loved the KOF stream. Grand Finals were amazing and Romance taking that rematch, congratulations! GO1 playing every game there is. Full of adrenaline right now.

Now it's back to juggling between Tekken7 and DOA5lr. Good matches all day on both also. Commentators making this a fun event.

#72
Nevran said on March 11, 2017 at 10:59 a.m.

Who?

Please give me names.

Tell me which player became suddenly so 'helped' that they can beat up high level player consistently?
Except Marn that trolled the world in the games early months at Final Round with his Mika (and people not adaptating/respecting his disrespect)?

Also I don't think you realize how much people 'leveled' their way of working in the lab and sharing tech between like the two last year of SFIV/USFIV and SFV.

#73
SSfox said on March 11, 2017 at 11:07 a.m.

#77

Art did his thing.

#78
Nevran said on March 11, 2017 at 11:49 a.m.

So you took one player. A player that you ddin't know before and that is maybe a good player. A player that many said lost because of his nerves.

Like if you ever saw a RNK player beating a top player, for you they are just random?

It is no facts here, just whining and taking one peeps who played well.

Let me guess, Tampa Bison is a random and Bison is super top tiers and 8/2 for Ryu hum?

#79
Havon said on March 11, 2017 at 11:51 a.m.

#81
riku157 said on March 11, 2017 at 12:01 p.m.

One person is not a good example of what you're trying to prove. You're trying to say there are multiple people like him, but tournament results show otherwise. To be able to give adequate proof you would need to have multiple people over multiple tournaments and know what their skill level was before they started getting good results.

#82
KingKong said on March 11, 2017 at 12:05 p.m.

The Balrog vs Urien matchup is awesome, I feel like this is the game I want to watch. Powerful and fun characters duking it out in one hell of an unforgiving matchup, that's money right there.

#83

@Nevran: Guilty *(sorry I don't know the spelling), but the Dhalsim player invited to ESL.

#89
Doh_Simpson said on March 11, 2017 at 12:31 p.m.

Tampa couldn't have beaten Daigo before if Ryu was actually a decent character even if the match up would still be in Bison's favor. LI joe was never on the same level as MOV but now LI joe can bet Mov with Urien.

#90
stephenn said on March 11, 2017 at 12:31 p.m.

CODYYY said on March 11, 2017 at 12:49 p.m.

I dont really understand all the urien hate. Its like people just accept balrog because the more well known players use him. If you see a random urien doing well people just freak out.

But a Balrog does well no one seems to care. Balrog is so cheap i dont get why people accept that character.

Balrog has been the most used character on stream too and there have only been a couple uriens.

#98
