Tekken World Tour online tournaments to be postponed as a result of boom in interest

Rarely do we get wind of an upcoming delay and feel much positivity about it, but it appears that the postponing of the Tekken World Tour online events is due to an ultimately encouraging reason.

Just yesterday, MarkMan informed the community that Tekken 7 had surpassed 1,000 entrants at EVO this year, successfully doubling its numbers from 2016.

This apparently came to organizers of the Tekken World Tour as a pleasant surprise, as they soon thereafter released the following statement:

"With the incredible interest in TEKKEN at EVO 2017 and the ever growing TEKKEN community worldwide, we’ve decided to relaunch the TEKKEN World Tour Online Tournaments to give the expanding player base more time to come together and hone their skills online.

We’re developing the TWT Online Tournament scene from the ground up and want to ensure it shines for all players. Please stayed tuned to the TEKKEN social channels for all new dates and announcements."

European and North American Tekken players were preparing for the start of the online events in their region will now have to wait for a currently unannounced rescheduling.

The TWT officially kicked off with CEO earlier this month, and offers over $200,000 in prizes.

Thank you to RYU81 for sending this our way.
