Arika, developer of Street Fighter EX series, to showcase new playable title at EVO 2017

Mr. Wizard promised some big EVO news today, and has announced that development company Arika will be revealing a new game at this year's big dance.

Arika is a company headed by Akira Nishitani, co creator of Street Fighter 2, and is responsible for the Street Fighter EX games.

In very late March we got a glimpse of what we thought was a cruel April Fool's joke titled "Fighting EX Layer."

As it turned out, Arika was showing off an early build of a potential game, hoping to inspire the funding they needed. We have a very strong hunch we'll be seeing something along these lines come EVO.

The Evolution tournament organizer did not specify that this would be a fighting game in his announcement, but seeing as this will be at the world's largest fighting game tournament, and looking at which company is developing it, we'd be surprised to find it be any other genre.
