Bandai Namco got to sit down at E3 with Dragon Ball FighterZ producer, Tomoko Hiroki, to get an inside look at the design, intentions and motivations for the game the FGC is currently losing its collective mind over.

Though this isn't technically the first Dragon Ball fighting game, previous iterations like the Budokai series deviated too far from the traditional fighting game genre for the community to really accept them on the competitive level. Developers of DBF are looking to change that.

During her interview, Hiroki talks about how her team wants to make this new Dragon Ball experience one that appeals to not only fans of the legendary anime series, but also takes care to appeal to the FGC.

Hiroki details a bit of Goku's play style, explaining that many of his attacks are easy to use in various situations. She then contrasts Goku with Gohan, (who fights in his Cell-saga iteration for this game) who has less range but stronger attacks.

Hiroki also talks about why the team decided to make the game in a 3v3 format, touches on unique game mechanics and plenty more.
