After nearly five months of this year's Pro Tour, CYG|Daigo has finally taken home a first place finish.

The Beast won Abuget Cup in Jakarta, Indonesia earlier today, taking with him 160 CPT points for besting everyone else at the Ranking event.

Before Abuget, Daigo had placed in seven CPT events, finishing in the top eight only at Thaiger Uppercut in Bangkok earlier this month.

Along with Daigo at this weekend's event were the likes of CO|Go1, Talon|Xiaobao, Moke, ZW|OilKing and PandaTV|Dark Jiewa, meaning a victory here was by no means a cakewalk.

Daigo went into Abuget with 240 Pro Tour points and won 160, putting him at 400. This increase propels him up to around 31st place on the CPT leaderboards. We also have Defend the North playing out, and will see exactly where The Beast lands after all points for this weekend have been distributed.

Judging by his struggles to maintain his traditional level of success this year, there's been question as to whether or not Daigo would qualify for the Cup this year. He still has work to do if he wants to ensure a spot, but with this win as well as a 17th place finish at EVO, it seems as though The Beast may be picking up steam.

Oddly enough, it was during August of last year that Daigo won his first CPT event of the 2016 season (eSports Festival). He would go on to qualify for the Capcom Cup, with subsequent first place finishes in the latter part of the year.
