PC mods used to create 'Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Arcade Edition' - adds balance changes and makes lower tier characters more viable

Back in May, we saw spuaidatab put together a Shin Akuma mod for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 on PC. This new version of the character added new moves and tweaks to improve him overall in-game.

Little did we know that this mod was only the tip of the iceberg. Spuaidatab, with the help of emc, have put together a full-blown overhaul of the game called Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Arcade Edition. This comes as a free patch that introduces balance changes to most of the cast.

The goal is to make the characters that are low tier or obsolete -- due to a similar, but better character on the roster -- viable, while toning down the overly strong characters a bit. Morrigan, Vergil, Zero and Phoenix are the only characters who received nerfs, however, the blog post notes that they are all still capable of doing what they do best.

Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Arcade Edition also brings in some new color palettes for players to enjoy. You can check out a handful of them in the gallery below.

Some of the balance changes included in this patch are very interesting. The trailer for UMvC3 AE's v.1 beta shows Hsien-Ko with a new ability to air dash, Arthur with a ground dash, several characters with added OTG attacks, and more.
