Mystery game? Divekick maybe? Guitar Hero 3 battle mode?!

StandStrong said on January 27, 2017 at 11:43 a.m.

wooo! I just got Guilty Gear Rev and wanted to check out some high level play for that game. Totally beginner here so it will be nice to see how people play at a high level.

Random Tatsunoko vs Capcom... Or maybe not (I'm not familiar with this tournament all that much).

Am I the only one that would like to see a SFxT 2v2 team tournament?

#4
Bop268170 said on January 27, 2017 at 1:59 p.m.

That would work! what about a mk9 2v2 tourney? cooperative tag combos are pretty hype!

The USFIV tourney was pretty nice. Always good to see NuckleDu and Decapre in action.

It can't be divekick, they said "game"

Wolfkrone with the mad thuggery, ChrisG has to avenge K-Brad

"Mika is dead" they said, "There's no way she's gonna be viable now" they said...

Nice tourney overall!

Shinpaisuru said on January 28, 2017 at 7:15 p.m.

Top 8 SFV was a blast. Congrats to Knuckle du.

#19
mykka said on January 28, 2017 at 7:23 p.m.

Congrats to Du! He definitely proved he DOES have skill, winning with a nerfed Mika against top tier Guile. At some point, it becomes about the player not the character. Well done.

#20
diddykv said on January 28, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

It's funny how Du goes all the way to grand finals with Guile, and suddenly he won with Mika, proving to the world the Mika is still a great character.

Now, I'm not gonna argue if she is good or bad, but what kind of logic is this?

#21
CityHunter said on January 28, 2017 at 7:38 p.m.

He actually use both during the entire tournament depending on the player he was facing

#22

Lol every 3v3 team has 1 Laura.

#23
DropDeadEddy said on January 28, 2017 at 8:27 p.m.

No real competition for him in this tourney to be honest.

#24
TheTHCGamer said on January 28, 2017 at 8:40 p.m.

I enjoy SFV but blazblue CF and guilty gear REV were easily more hype to watch in my opinion.

#25
TheTHCGamer said on January 28, 2017 at 8:42 p.m.

I usually feel that way but top 8 this time around felt meh to me. Watching GG right now and BBCF earlier made me want to play those games.

I'm glad I have both of them and SFV.

#26
flowtron said on January 28, 2017 at 8:48 p.m.

guile everywhere

#27
Xykes said on January 28, 2017 at 8:51 p.m.

SF5 top 5 basically created a meme, with the whole Krone/Kbrad thing.

I think you're in the minority here. Especially, since more people were tuning in for SF5 than they are for GG right now.

#28
MonoChrome said on January 28, 2017 at 8:52 p.m.

Wooooooooo Dogura my boy!!!!!!!! Props to him beating SKD's Izayoi, that fight is hella difficult considering a lot of Izayoi's tools she has but with Azraels damage output just a few combos from the mad dog can put her out. God damn I love these 2 wooo!!!!!

#29
CityHunter said on January 28, 2017 at 8:58 p.m.

It wasnt super hype but it still was fun. GG and BB were more hype since FF is mostly an anime tournament and pretty much every good anime player was there even Dogura and GO1. While SFV was still stacked many top player were not there

#30
TheTHCGamer said on January 28, 2017 at 9 p.m.

Thats fine but for me GG and BB was more hype to warch this time around. I get SFV is the more popular game but in my opinion both those games I mentioned were easily more hype to watch.

Don't get me wrong I do like SFV but I know when other games are also just (if not more) hype to watch.

#31
TheTHCGamer said on January 28, 2017 at 9:02 p.m.

For me it was pretty hype and to be honest it made me realize I shpuld be witching those two games more often. GG is still going on right now and is a lot more hype then anything I saw from SFV today.

It's not just the fact that it's an anime tournament it's also because I haven't been paying attention to those two ganes enough because there always overshadowed by SFV.

#32
MonoChrome said on January 28, 2017 at 9:46 p.m.

Yay Dogura won both BB and GG. He always blesses us with hype matches, absolutely love his Raven, Sin and Azrael. Go Dogura!!!

#33
Montsegur said on January 28, 2017 at 10:15 p.m.

Other than the pop off, SFV was pretty mundane. Du just casually steam rolled everyone. Viewership doesn't necessarily = hype. If that was the case, Smash/Melee would be the hypest of them all!

Heck, KoF XIII, UMVC 3 had far more hype moments at Evo than SFIV did. Much like THCGamer, I do enjoy watching SFV, but tonight was overall pretty bland.

#34
TheTHCGamer said on January 28, 2017 at 10:24 p.m.

Yes it was.

#35
HyperGadoken said on January 28, 2017 at 10:35 p.m.

Huge tourney, but is there a reason it was only two days? Odd to see for a major tourney

#36
DriveCancelled said on January 28, 2017 at 10:58 p.m.

SF5 can create "memes" all you like. It doesn't change that the game has a terrible reputation, has awful sales (not even 1 million sold, just shipped) and still has broken lobby searching (no bars, no flags) almost one year after launch. It's an embarrassment. Then there's the god awful unpatched, ignored netcode.

USF4 would have more viewers if it wasn't killed off aggressively by Capcom. It was growing every year by large numbers and it's the better game.

But you can keep ignoring the game's flaws if you want. We all know you only defend the game every comment section like a good little Capcom boy.

#37
Balrog1984 said on January 28, 2017 at 11:18 p.m.

And we know b**ches like you try to keep bashing it. Go find a hobby. Great matches, allthough knuckledu didnt have that much competition. The guy is really scary since last year.

#38
Kavey said on January 28, 2017 at 11:46 p.m.

Ships are sales, also there are no concrete official sales data released to this point (yes I know about Capcom's sales list that is probably updated annually for games that already exist), and if you bring up VG charts I will chuckle and figuratively casually walk away.

#39
Chuck_Remixed said on January 28, 2017 at 11:50 p.m.

Dogura showed out.;) Enjoyed watching this tourney overall.

Du places 1st in one of your games, Dorugra placed 1st in two.

Accept the Faulty Defence in the fake hype your American Playstyles carry

#42
Phtm_Miria said on January 29, 2017 at 1:30 a.m.

Well, this outburst was completely random.

Frustrated because SFV isn't dying fast enough?

More people need to play TvC

#46
Eternal said on January 29, 2017 at 4:24 a.m.

The "not even 1 million sold" thing is just flat out wrong. It sold 1.3~1.4mil at launch, far below it's expected 2 million but still beyond 1mil. It's prob ~1.5mil now, maybe 1.6.

#47
Dimensional said on January 29, 2017 at 4:55 a.m.

Dogura Go1 and Chris G had some impressive showings.

#48
BlitzN said on January 29, 2017 at 5:38 a.m.

Actually as of a few months ago they said they hadn't sold anymore. That was a investors call so they haven't sold out of their initial shipment. Meaning actual in hand not on shelves could be pretty low.

#49
Montsegur said on January 29, 2017 at 5:40 a.m.

It initially had shipped 1.4 million. As of October 2016, they didn't bother updating the data because the game had moved less than 100,000 copies since the first report. They key term is shipped, it hasn't necessarily sold.

http://shoryuken.com/2016/10/29/updat...

Steam wise, the games been at the 250,000 ish mark since forever. It's gone up a bit, but nothing significant.

#50
BlitzN said on January 29, 2017 at 5:55 a.m.

Exactly so we can probably believe VG and they have about 900k copies sold to customers. That leaves about 500k left on shelves.

#51
CODYYY said on January 29, 2017 at 7:42 a.m.

brillaint tournament but they need to get rid of teams or have sunday.

2/3 and top 8s overlapping each other was a bad decision.

#52
panzninja said on January 29, 2017 at 9:50 a.m.

So capcom nerfed mika and buffed nuckledu

#53
jonnitti said on January 30, 2017 at 7:28 a.m.

In the soul calibur 2 tournament i mostly used xianghua. I only used sophitia against rez to avoid a mirror match
