Capcom open to another balance patch before the Pro Tour season begins? A quick line in yesterday's Street Fighter 5 blog seems to suggest it

Late yesterday evening, a new blog update went live over on Capcom Unity. This entry shared a handful of Street Fighter 5 Season 2 balance changes that weren't included with the original list back in December, as well as corrections for typos found in a couple of character-specific tweaks.

Among the excitement of unlisted changes, and learning that we'll be seeing an update to the Capcom Fighters Network this Spring, one quick portion of the blog may have gone unnoticed.

The blog notes that Capcom has been keeping an eye on how characters are performing in Season 2, watching out for any balance alterations they may need to make.
Additionally, we’ve been monitoring character performance since the release of Season 2 balance patch. We are currently analyzing this data to see what, if any, additional adjustments may be needed.
That line has definitely got me wondering...
Capcom has mentioned in the past that they would potentially make changes to Street Fighter 5 shortly after its yearly balance update if something was deemed way too strong or wasn't working quite right. With Season 2 being in the hands of the public for over a month now, we haven't really seen anything that's completely broken rear its head (though some might disagree).

With that in mind, it is certainly peculiar for Capcom to toss a statement about possible changes into a blog about updates without anything blatantly overpowered in the game that needs immediate addressing.

Full details for the Capcom Pro Tour are set to drop in late February, with Final Round 20 being the first event of the season (that we know about) and taking place on March 10 - 12. Considering the fact that Capcom does not want to make any balance changes once the tournament season has started, as it would be unfair to players who have been practicing since December, any potential adjustments they might be looking to make would have to be implemented soon.

One thing is for sure, there is certainly a demand for another set of balance changes before the CPT begins. The community's general consensus seems to feel that characters such as Urien, Laura, Guile, and Balrog may be too strong, while others like F.A.N.G have been nerfed without reason.

Several top players have expressed their dislike for some of the changes made to their characters in Season 2 as well, such as RZR|Infiltration and RZR|Xian. Other prominent members of the community predict that a new balance patch is coming two weeks before the start of the CPT, and in a recent poll our readers unanimously voted in favor of another update.

At the end of the day, we don't know what Capcom has planned for the future of Street Fighter 5 Season 2 -- to reiterate, this is merely speculation on my part. But demand for another balance update is certainly there, and if Capcom is reading the tea leaves as closely as they say, then we just might see one come to fruition before the Capcom Pro Tour kicks off.

Do you think we'll see another update to Street Fighter 5 soon? And if so, what do you want to see changed? Let us know in the comments below.
