Gotta say for as much as people love to cry when someone wins with a 'Standard SNK Top Tier' on their team like Iori, Robert, K', Beni, Kyo, etc, the fact that Terry did better with his more offbeat, Terry-on-point(who has massive anchor damage), and Kensou-on-anchor mixed tier(? at last check, it's early) team than the 'Strong Standard' team tells me that I think people jump the gun when they so much as see a classic as if it's an Auto-Victoly Guaranteed. I mean Zarina AND Meitenkun last I checked were mid-ish and Danke did great with them.

While it's early to call it(more and more tech comes out, I mean recently Frionel's been showing off some nasty-awesome stuff on his Twitter with Iori), and team games like this and Marvel do lend themselves to 'classics' I feel we'll see more variety overall in XIV.

We'll always see standards in there because they're powerful, reliable, and people just like the characters(I've had Iori on anchor for 22 years because I thought he was an awesome character when I first saw him), but I think this time around we may see some other mix-ups in other slots at least, much like Danke did(took a standard strong Benimaru, but then two new and unexplored characters.)

Ok so i was wondering why i haven't seen EH posting about tournaments for a long time now. Just found out that filtering Smash Bros news actually filters tournaments like this one too. Why?

Laura didn't need those buffs. She was already ok in season 1. The system change in reversals was already enough for her.

Now people wonder why Rog has the damage he has because capcom thought it would be smart to make him offense only yeah in boxing there is no defense right...... I feel bad for smug that man was screwed just from the match up alone.

#23
Chuck_Remixed said on January 8, 2017 at 4:11 p.m.

Now that was crazy. Wolkrone pulled it off.lol. Was hoping Smug would come threw but yeah.

jimbo1123 said on January 8, 2017 at 4:23 p.m.

Laura went from bottom 5 to maybe top 10. By mid season she's gonna be found out and finish high mid tier. She still has a below average footsie game and weak defensive options

Bot really. Many time he could have take it but he just made mistake that cost him the round. Both player played solid but Smug could have won many times

#29
EnsignHiro said on January 8, 2017 at 6:37 p.m.

What sucks is now people will cry rivers saying how laura is broken etc now that she had won a tournament. Its reasons like this that make me really miss the days you just trained hard and came up with counters to characters instead of seeing many nerfs to characters.

#30
Xykes said on January 8, 2017 at 6:40 p.m.

Laura won a tournament last year, too.

The pandaxgaming channel has the umvc3/sf5/mkx top 8 but you have to directly subscribe to that channel to see them. Twitch prime won't help. Just a heads up to would be viewers that want to catch up. :/

#34
Azaael99 said on January 8, 2017 at 11:34 p.m.

He played her mid actually and it was Zarina. I remembered he anchored Meitenkun.

#35
Whengameswerefun said on January 9, 2017 at 3:14 a.m.

Yeah he didn't anti-air in the game 3 but you could tell he was super frustrated krone knew that as long hes keep ex dashing through the earth he was going to get in smugs head this match up is a pain for rog since season 1 and its harder now then before I'm actually surprised smug was able to bring it to the very last game. Plus +3 jab makes her strings impossible at least when rog does them hes actually minus on most or has to be right in your face since capcom changed the hitbox range on his +3 short.

#36
EnsignHiro said on January 9, 2017 at 9:06 a.m.

But nobody complained about her much last season now more people complain about her now in season 2.

#37
EnsignHiro said on January 9, 2017 at 9:07 a.m.

Yea i cant stand subscriber only mode. Luckily someone may have them up on youtube so im not worried about it.
