Correction: The reported information regarding Tekken 7's sales has turned out to be inaccurate. 4gamer's original article mentions that the game's sales are fast approaching 3 million, not that they have actually surpassed the mark.

Avoiding The Puddle has since retracted the piece and provided more information on the matter.

Original story: Just a few months back in October, we learned that sales broke the two million unit mark, and things have apparently only skyrocketed from there.

According to a recent article from Avoiding the Puddle, Tekken Producer Katsuhiro Harada has revealed that the game continues to fly off shelves as total units sold has reportedly surpassed the three million mark.

Though T7 was officially released in Japan back in March of 2015, it wasn't until June of this current year that it made it out to the West.

This year also saw a incredibly successful Tekken World Tour, which culminated in a storybook worthy finals event that saw the two undisputed powerhouses of the game (FOX|Saint and FOX|JDCR) fall to Qudans in one of the most exciting top eight brackets in any fighting game all year.

Compare this with Street Fighter 5's (the headliner title in most fighting game events) 1.9 million units after 19 months, (though Yoshinori Ono claims the number is now closer to 2.5 million) and one can't help but acknowledge that the Tekken world is moving and shaking in big ways.

Japanese speakers can check out the 4gamer interview from which AVP acquired this information. Thanks to Crownthe.king for sending this our way.
