Mysterious new character on the way to King of Fighters 14, to be playable at EVO Japan

SNK drops "joker" hint in recent tweet

Exciting news for King of Fighters fans as SNKPofficial has announced that a new King of Fighters 14 character will be playable at EVO Japan in late January.

Just a few hours ago, the development company tweeted out the following text along with the image of the Joker card seen in the banner of this story:

"SNK will have a booth at EVO JAPAN in Ikebukuro from January 26th to 27th! A new character for KOF XIV will be available to play for the first time! The event attendance will be for free! Please come and play! #SNK #KOFXIV #KOF14"

We learned a few months back that KOF14 would be getting a new Saudi Arabian female character as well as a Masmak fort stage.

It's possible that this is the character SNK is referencing, but the joker card hint doesn't seem to have a very evident connection with any of the little information we know about the confirmed Saudi fighter.

We do have a possible lead on another KOF figure that has appeared in multiple entries, but is currently nowhere to be found in the latest. Here are the images of the Saudi Arabian character, and we'll delve more into the other lead after the jump.

As pointed out by my colleague Nick "MajinTenshinhan" Taylor, Ash Crimson's team theme in King of Fighters 11 is called "The Joker," while his personal theme in King of Fighters 13 is titled "The Second Joker."

While not a confirmation by any means, we wouldn't be too surprised if Ash were the one being teased here based on this alone. You can give both of the referenced themes a listen here, thanks to MythKiller77 and PikminExpert respectively.

Thank you to Shermie_KOF for sending this in.
