The producer of Soul Calibur 6 recently sat down for an interview during the PlayStation Experience. Development started because this year marks the 20th anniversary of the Souul Calibur series.

As a result of Soul Calibur and Tekken both being developed in-house, the two teams essentially saw one another as rivals. The producer notes that there will be some "good and challenging elements that come from this."

Both teams try to one-up each other as a result. This is apparently very good for innovation, according to the producer. The producer himself, however, was actually involved with both teams.

A new mechanic known as the "Reversal Edge" was detailed during this interview. After parrying or dodging an attack, players will be able to immediately counter-attack.

It's intended to be a mechanic that is very easy to execute. It can be triggered regardless if the opponent is using a high, medium, or low attack.

However, it should be noted that the producer mentions that there is some risk involved with utilizing the Reversal Edge mechanic... Hit the jump below to check out the video containing the interview for even more information (and even some gameplay).
