Recent screenshots from Capcom’s latest release of Marvel vs. Capcom: Infinite's newest trio of DLC characters shows Venom, the Winter Soldier, and Black Widow poised for action. These fighters were met with celebration when initially announced, but something seems familiar...

Natasha Romanova bears an extraordinary resemblance to King of Fighters 14’s Vanessa, who was part of recent DLC, herself. The two share similar haircuts, both in a bob style and dyed red. Their eyebrows are similarly shaped, giving them an intense look. While it’s unlikely that Black Widow was inspired by Vanessa’s appearance, the parallels between the two are uncanny.

These characters might look alike, but their playstyles are wildly different. While Natasha is well-versed in many forms of combat, including boxing (which is Vanessa’s specialty), she also has a plethora of projectiles at her disposal, which she can use to damage opponents from a distance.

Vanessa, on the other hand, relies on getting up close to stun her enemies. While they are unlike each other in this way (not to mention the fact that KOF plays entirely differently from Infinite anyway), who’s to say the two didn’t hit it off after some friendly sparring?

Vanessa also shares similarities with Ultra Street Fighter 4’s Crimson Viper. The two are both single mothers of young children, whose husbands were killed by evil organizations. Both women are in their thirties, wear business suits, and are skilled in hand-to-hand combat.

Along the same lines, Winter Soldier likewise looks nearly identical to Spencer, who hails from Capcom’s Bionic Commando. The shape of their faces is nearly identical, with both sporting the same nose, mouth, eyebrows, and both even sport a metal arm. However, that is where their similarities end.
