I hope Daigo takes it, just for the controversy it will bring. Either that or Tokido and eff it I like his play FChamp.

I am more interested in seeing Poongko win with Kolin. I would be happy seeing Tokido win with Akuma also.

Despite everyone's complaints about some character being too strong, it's nice to see a game where so many different characters win tournaments. Just in the life of the game so far we have had
Chun-Li, Nash, Karin, R. Mika dominate earlier on in S1
Now we have Balrog, Urien, Guile, Laura, and Ibuki dominating

In this game I don't feel there are any weak characters except for F.A.N.G
I just feel characters like Juri, Alex, Dhalsim, Zangief, Vega
are all great characters they are just less represented by players.
Looking to see some new tech this weekend!

Quite the line-up they've got there. I can't even say there's a favorite to win this tournament.

It's literally up in the air.

Might depend on bracket placements I guess.

I'm predicting some sort of big technical problem during the tournament due to Mercury being in retrograde. That ish is real.

If it's just cheap drama the thing you're looking for then maybe FGC tournaments aren't the thing for you.

I suggest gossip magazines. They go straight to the point and they're far more time efficient.

SFIV side tournaments are always great fun to watch.
And the vintage CvS2 footage at the end was cool too.

barrioroseio said on April 14, 2017 at 2:18 p.m.

People love to talk about the abusive jump in game from SFV but I just literally saw Poongko's Seth jump in button 5 consecutive times on PRRog's Rog then corner himself because of it, absorb an attack with focus backdash to jump out for more jump in game to only then eat an Ultra he was supplying the whole time to lose the round.......

This some straight honest footsies gameplay I tell you. kappa

I can't wait to see my boy Poongko! I hope to see him get into at least top 16. NCR is stacked, and I know we will see an announcement at the end of it.

#23
Gotomaster said on April 14, 2017 at 5:32 p.m.

Or, you know, Rog is out of practice because all he has played year long is SFV, while Poongko has been streaming a ton of USF4 along side SFV. Its like the better player won.

#24
Kavey said on April 14, 2017 at 6:01 p.m.

But he said Rog won... Also doesn't PR-Rog say he still plays SFIV a lot and has fun with it.... Now that I think about it how would Poongko even know if he did or not and weren't they playing in winners finals (I have no Idea), its not like massive jump ins is a subtle nuanced tactic that mastery of the game is needed to avoid it anti airing should be SF footsies 101 right?

Ah I don't know anyway I didn't really see it. I guess this tournament starts tomorrow for me.

#30
ikarinokami said on April 14, 2017 at 7:54 p.m.

I think it was because his Karin got straight bodied by birdie. xyzzy, shut down pretty much everything he wanted to do. he might have to counter pick him, if they meet in the tournament.

#31
Green016 said on April 14, 2017 at 8 p.m.

Do people think Punk is funny or something? How old do you have to be to find teabagging funny? His name fits him perfectly and not in a good way.

#32
javert said on April 14, 2017 at 9:08 p.m.

Yeah teabagging was fun for like a month but at this point is just tiring to see it at every chance. Would rather see shorter taunts like those of 3S.

Anyway it sucks that both GG and BB got finished today. Now there won't be anything watchable while Marvel and Smash are on air and SFV is waiting them to end.

Last Year's SFV Grand Finals:
Infiltraton's ridiculously meticulous NASH vs Tokido's CCSweep Setup RYU

Not gonna lie Infiltration's Nash was hype. Now that he's got a lady it seems he has been on the netflix & chill diet.

I watched the whole SF4 part of the tournament. Poongko beat PR Rog to end the tournament. Y'all need to fix that. And people talking like pr rog won? I'm confused what you were watching.

I am just as surprised as you on the Rog winning thing. I mean he could have won I didn't see any of it at all. except the screen shots of the paused video when I reload the page.

#45
Phtm_Miria said on April 15, 2017 at 5:50 a.m.

I think the stream ended at Winners' Finals. Looking at the brackets Poongko won in Winners, and that's what we saw on stream, then offstream PR Balrog won Losers' finals and went on winning Grand Finals too beating Poongko twice.

#46
Phtm_Miria said on April 15, 2017 at 6:07 a.m.

On the contrary: people flock to cheap drama all the times, it's exactly because it's cheap drama that views are higher. And while it's certainly pretty funny when stuff like that happens in tournaments to watch them only to get to see the next quirky pop off sounds terribly time inefficient.

Get a gossip magazine, they give you what you want without forcing you to wait through several Bests of Three.

Vagabond the awesome online Necalli player? And the only one player showing off the new DLC character?

Definitely a sacrifice for the greater good.

So far my picks for top 8 are still in this. Hoping for Poongko to win this.

Nuckledu is going to reach top 3, but not win. Tokido, punk, poongko, PR balrog, LPN, go1 and dogura are going to reach top 8 along with nuckledu.

Daigo lost to a venga something cant even pronounce his nickname, just by throw loops. Great game, yatzyfighter is really a game that rewards skill:)

#69
Montsegur said on April 15, 2017 at 6:40 p.m.

Daigo will eventually figure out he needs to go ham far more often. He keeps trying to play his old school defensive, spacing, reactive game which doesn't work long term in this game.

It was fine in USFIV, he'd wait, react, and punish accordingly with E. Ryu. Much harder to do in this game, you have to push the pace, not get backed into the corner over and over.

Poongko!!! Great!!. I don't even care if you win another match. Im just glad to see that someone can provide some good Kolin play on the big stage.

Daigo lost to Vagabond, a player that already did a good showing at, I think, a major Red Bull tournament last year. He doesn't to travel much so he's little known.

#73
Balrog1984 said on April 15, 2017 at 7:01 p.m.

Yeah its all just luck. I dont understand why you dont compete? If you would face daigo its 50/50 chance you beat him. Some of you people are so retarded its just magical.

Balrog1984 said on April 15, 2017 at 7:10 p.m.

So glad poongko plays kolin. Hope he makes it far and sticks with her.

The world gets a little darker when Daigo gets eliminated...

#76
Doh_Simpson said on April 15, 2017 at 7:17 p.m.

Daigo should just retire, it's like he doesn't want to play anymore. He looks amateurish and I just feel like he doesn't have the zeal anymore.

I'm a fellow Daigo d!ck rider, I always unite when called but it's time for Daigo to pack it up man he's done.

He can always play Guilty Gear.......I wish he would at least play it every once and a while. I can dream;(

Poongko putting all the Kolin players on his back and putting people on notice.

It's always so weird whenever Snake Eyez doesn't play Zangief.

#80
Fuzzywuzzy229 said on April 15, 2017 at 7:30 p.m.

I must comment on this. Freaking Bonchan is AWESOME!!! Only player that stuck with Nash and still killing it. Honestly, even in S1, I thought his Nash was so amazing to watch. From what I remembered in his games, he always applied pressure like a beast instead of backdashing away non-stop. He's such a consistent player and I think not enough attention is given to the man. I would really like to see him take it...but chances are slim :(

#81
Doh_Simpson said on April 15, 2017 at 7:31 p.m.

Snake eyez too man, he just isn't in the competition. He can place high once in a while but he just isn't in the race with the best of them where he used to be.

I feel like Snake wants to win but can't identify with a character in the game. I can just see how frustrated he is because he wants to play Gief but Gief in this game is not the same Gief he played in previous iterations.

I hope he can get a character in the Dlc bunch that fits him so he can go back to winning.

#85
keebler said on April 15, 2017 at 7:46 p.m.

Could have said the exact same thing when Evil Ryu came out. Took months to become decent. He's not doing bad considering he is playing the most basic Guile from a pro level player we've ever seen. He's just relying on his past guile knowledge and fundamentals to get him through. I think when he starts maximizing his offensive potential, he will place higher. This game doesn't reward patient play for the long term. You need to mix in some crazy for the offense.

Yea but when is he going to do that he hasn't improved since E league. He's just doesn't want to win, someone on his team should wake him up .

Secret meeting between Capcom and E-sports before SF5 development- We know Japan and Asia are too good, they win everything SF-wise. They just have more skill, better reactions, better everything. We can't have this any longer especially with e-sports in the US. What can we do to even the playing field and help US players.

Capcom- Lets make SF5 as scrub friendly and dumbed down as possible. Take out all the skill and reactions and make it all guessing and zero fundamentals. Yup, mission accomplished gentlemen.
