Just one pixel from elimination, Haitani goes on nine game win streak to claim his first Premier Pro Tour victory

When SPY|Filipino Champ took MJS|Haitani down to dire straits at Ultimate Fighting Arena, we began preparing to see our very first Dhalsim or Zangief Premier Capcom Pro Tour victory.

Down 0-2 and holding the life deficit, Haitani's chances were all but spent. A few crucial blows from Dhalsim took Haitani's Necalli down to his last pixel of health, but the Japanese god never said die, and here's what happened:

Finding new fire with this extremely clutch win, Haitani collected another victory of Filipino Champ, and would close out their fifth and final game with a pair of beautiful confirms:

Three games down, six to go.
Haitani's reward for defeating Champ: a disadvantageous grand finals set against the red hot DNG|Itabashi Zangief, the man who sent him to losers with a 1-3 defeat.

For much of this set, Itazan looked helpless. Every attempt to close the distance on Haitani was met with a heavy hitting fierce or anti-air. Despite being the aggressor, (a role Zangief almost always assumes) Itazan was the one who had to worry about sticking out any stray limbs for Haitani to take advantage of:

After defeating Itazan four games in a row, (thus taking his running streak to seven wins total) Haitani failed to close the following round out. Momentum is the one thing you never want to give to a Zangief player, and no one is more apt to spinning pile drive their way into a snowball streak than Itazan. Audiences knew very well that this moment could have been the end of Haitani's rampage:

Despite the quick hiccup, Haitani would not lose a single game. Two more matches and his nine game win streak would finalize the bracket for UFA. Congratulations to Haitani on his first Premier Pro Tour win:
