Punk is registered for this event, but wasn't sure if he could make it due to ELeague, so I've omitted him from the player list for now.

Looks like the big names are in Paris for that cpt event

#6
Kavey said on April 8, 2017 at 7:46 a.m.

I hate when tourneys are intersecting with each other's time and cannibalizing each others potential player roster.

#7
Curtimus said on April 8, 2017 at 9:30 a.m.

Well when there are like forty events in less than a year not much you can do. As long as it's different regions and not premiers it isn't too bad.

The bigger the FGC gets the more this will happen.

Wow Punk lost because of his pride. He needs to realize he can't cook everyone with his secondary.

Sounds like you spoke too soon.

He got the runback and beat the same Urien player using Urien.

A little of respect in the american fgc would be well received by the rest of the world, just look at the recent pro tour done in france haitani won big time and all the guys where always respectful, even with game play level so above this, that popoff culture in america is childish as hell.

#27
keebler said on April 9, 2017 at 4:05 p.m.

Both types of celebration are fine. Guys like no respect didn't do anything inappropriate. It's different from getting on stream and cursing or getting physical or something. We saw similar wild celebrations in Madrid last week, especially when Flash lost.

Hell, tokido was famous in SF4 for killing with a raging demon and imitating the pose immediately afterward on stage. That's basically a non verbal pop off but it's being a showman all the same.
Part of the unique aspect of the fgc is in its diversity of culture as well. An east coast tourney is much different than many west coast tourneys, just as much as it's different from a major in Japan, and as different as a major in Europe. Just keep it clean and not excessively long and we are good.

I only just noticed, but you accidentally put premier event instead of ranking event in the description for this tournament, "This story is being updated live with final day results, for this Capcom Pro Tour premier event."

RyanLV is for real. His Chun is extremely impressive, along with his all around play.

#34
ParabolaBeam said on April 9, 2017 at 10:15 p.m.

Yeah, Punk blew through losers. Took out Strider, Snake Eyez, Samurai... and then Chris G in two sets grand finals.

I'm a believer in Punk now.

ChrisG with a lot of combo drops at the end. Punk just looked so much better.

Punk is the most entertaining Karin I've seen. He understands and uses her tools better than other players.

#40
Curtimus said on April 9, 2017 at 10:55 p.m.

So I guess that explains why Punk didn't even look like he cared when he let himself get sent to losers. He probably just figured "meh, I'm gonna take this free here on out." It's hard to argue that him and Du are not the top two American players right now.

I didn't see the tournament, but the results do not surprise me. Punk has constantly proven he is one of the best players in the U.S. right now.
