Gen's disciple was considered for Street Fighter 5; early character designs also show 3 different 'Laura' ideas

Gen's disciple used to be a thing, Street Fighter 5's director Takayuki Nakayama has revealed in a blog post on the game's official website.

The unnamed successor to Gen was conceived as one of the potential new characters to be introduced in Capcom's latest. He was described as an ambitious young fighter whose lifelong goal was to defeat Akuma, as well as a "dark hero" who stood against Necalli.

He was also said to have delivered the finishing blow to a weakened Gen.

Other scrapped SF5 character ideas featured in the blog post include (in order): a literary master, a president, three alternate designs for Laura -- including a male counterpart who was skilled in both Brazilian Jiu-Jitsu and soccer -- an earlier version of F.A.N.G, and a souped up version of the Shadaloo soldier we saw in Alex's story mode playthrough.
