'I really don't think Balrog is that good' - PR Rog's Street Fighter 5 Balrog is already looking scary, but will he even play the character?

With Balrog's entrance into Street Fighter 5, much of the community has turned their eyes in the direction of one player in particular: Eduardo "EG|PR Balrog" Perez.

Perez was one of Street Fighter 4's most charismatic tournament players, and though he's seen some success playing Necalli in Street Fighter 5, as his name would suggest, he's a Balrog player at heart.

Though he's only had the character for about two days time, PR Rog is already showing the beginnings of greatness with Boxer. That said, he's only got two weeks before EVO 2016, so the question of whether he should try to have Balrog tournament ready by then naturally arises.

We reached out to the Evil Genius to get his early thoughts on the new character, and the first words out of his mouth were, "I really don't think he's that good, to be honest."
"He's got terrible defense," continued Perez, "and his normals aren't as good as I thought they would be either. Crouching medium punch goes no where now sadly."

Though he isn't exactly impressed at the moment, the top player did acknowledge some silver linings, and that it's way too early to pass any final judgements.

"Only thing that I found good is his ability to come back, but that will be super minor in the future once people block the overheads. All in all it's still day three for me with the character and I'm sure more things will appear and make him better!"

Perez has expressed plenty of excitement for the new character on his live stream channel, and has even tweeted a thought or two about match ups thus far. Below you'll find gameplay footage of PR Rog playing online against players such as TS|Sabin.

Special thank you to PR Balrog for his time.
