Akuma might have ... carried a baby on his back? Capcom show off their concept sketches for the demon's return in SF5, ranging from badass to bizarre

Recently, a post surfaced on the Capcom Fighters Network showing off a bunch of sketches made for Akuma in Street Fighter 5 during the character's development phase.

There are a lot of different ideas for Akuma here, ranging from him being practically a Necalli-clone to actually carrying an infant on his back.
Continue below to check out Akuma's design sketches and the explanations for them, all translated personally by me, Nicholas "MajinTenshinhan" Taylor.
Hello, everyone. We've finally released Akuma, but he looks a bit different.

Today, I'll be introducing the sketches we had for him after we'd finalized his general design.

Topless version

A somewhat slender Akuma. His wild hair and beard are similar to what we ended up with.

Total ripoff version

He looks like he just survived a shipwreck and finally made it home. Well, we already had a guy who looked just like this, so this Akuma wasn't of much use.

I can't tell if he's warm or cold version

We thought the top part here would get annoying graphics-wise, but the feeling was that Akuma felt a bit cold at one point, and then got attacked by a bear, so he defeated it and made it into a scarf for himself.

Found a baby version

In his V-Trigger, the baby would fall asleep, which allowed him to use his full power. It would never fall off of his back.

We figured we'd eventually be able to introduce the baby, after it's grown up, as "raised by Akuma". What a weird idea.

Almost final version

We still hadn't decided if he should have a hair bun or not, but this was practically the completed version.

Honestly, this particular version of Akuma was drawn up as one of the very first concepts we did.

So in the end, we worked to make sure that the old parts of Akuma were combined with a new image for him. That baby trivia was pretty good, huh? The members of the development team were transfixed by how cute the little kid was.
