Those who are just jumping into the fighting game community for new titles like Street Fighter 5 and King of Fighters 14 may not be aware of some of the soul-crushing moves from games passed.

Rose's crouching medium punch in Alpha 2, Sagat's crouching fierce punch in CVS2 and about half the moves in Super Turbo gave certain characters incredible advantages over others.

In their most recent video, Core-A Gaming explores exactly why moves like these are so strong. Gerald covers the concepts of frame data, hit boxes and explains how moves like these come to be.

They're not perfect, but developers seem to be doing a better job at designing techniques in today's games in a bit more balanced manner.
