Daigo super plays: Masterful parries, incredible comebacks and much more

Show of hands: how many of you thought that Ryu's V-Skill parry was practically useless when you first picked up the character in Street Fighter 5?

Unlike the parry in SF3, Ryu's V-Skill possesses start-up frames. And since Ryu is put in a counter-hit state if he is attacked during the start-up portion of the move, it makes his V-Skill a relatively risky proposition in situations where a simple Shoryuken would suffice.

Still, as these two clips from a MCZ|Daigo moments compilation video demonstrate, if you do take the time to master the timing of Ryu's V-Skill, when used to punish certain attacks -- like Chun-Li's aerial Lightning Kicks or Cammy's V-Trigger specials -- it can potentially translate into big damage.

Check out the rest of this Daigo super play compilation video below. It contains quite a number of The Beast's favorite Ryu tactics, such as going for the throw on wake-up repeatedly, backdashing to bait throw escape attempts (even after a jump-in) -- and even a few godlike reads.
Which of MCZ|Daigo's Ryu tactics did you like best? Did you see anything that you can immediately apply to your Ryu game? Let us know in the comments below.
