'UMVC was my main game... it's time to move on' - Filipino Champ discusses his plan to focus games other than Marvel and Street Fighter

A recent tweet by Ultimate Marvel vs Capcom 3 legend Ryan, Filipino Champ, Ramirez disclosed that he would not be focusing on his strongest game for this year's EVO. A fairly bold statement, in tandem with F-Champ's confident style, though no one would be all too surprised to see him still take UMVC despite not practicing. The logical question that follows such a statement: "What will F-Champ be doing with his time? Is he planning on moving away from competitive fighting games, or just shifting his approach?"

We reached out to the Marvel champion to get a few answers, and he kindly obliged us. Hit the jump below to see what he said.
Raptor: You tweeted mentioning that you won't be practicing MVC for EVO. Is this because you feel you don't need to and would rather practice other games? Or is it more because you'd like to veer away from Marvel?

F-Champ: Hey John, UMVC3 was my main game. The reality is that it won't grow anymore I feel like I've accomplished anything you that can possibly do in UMVC3 as a player. It's time to move on and play the next gen games while I wait for SF5.

I really enjoy playing Mortal Kombat X and Killer Instinct. Both games are sooo fun! For EVO, I will practice MKX and KI but will still enter USF4 and UMVC3 of course. I hope it's not too late to completely transition, but i trust my work ethic and hopefully it pays off by then.

It's very hard to balance working 40 to 50 hours per week and still try to play multiple fighting games. I have to shorten my sleep schedule by two hours to have more time to squeeze the other games in.
It sounds like no community is safe because, as long as he doesn't burn himself out, Filipino Champ will be tearing through multiple brackets at this year's EVO.

A big thank you to F-Champ for responding and taking the time to discuss his situation with us, especially in light of his busy schedule!
