After four years the Smash 64 tier list has been updated; Jigglypuff and Samus move up while Mario and Donkey Kong and others move down

It might have something to do with the release of Smash Bros. 4, but tournament attendance for the original Super Smash Bros. has seen a recent bloom as players have begun to revisit the game on a professional level.

As a result, the game's meta has continued to develop, and, after four years, some of the tier rankings have shifted about. In contrast to Melee, Brawl and the recent Smash 4, Smash 64 has a relatively small cast with only 12 characters to choose from.

Also in contrast to the other games, the tier gaps are not as extreme so as to make only a few characters truly viable in tournament. Though certain characters have the edge in 64, it's not unheard of to have a lower tier character in later brackets of a tournament.

What do you think of the new placements? Fox falls a spot, Mario drops two, Donkey Kong drops two and Samus jumps up four places. It's important to note that these rulings apply only to the Dream Land stage.
