Construction delay causes unforeseen setback with SoCal Regionals 2015 tournament venue

One of the most prestigious and hype tournaments in the fighting game community, the SoCal Regionals, has suffered a setback regarding their venue.

After months of planning with their current venue, for a May 1-3, 2015 tournament, unforeseen construction delays have thrown a wrench into those plans.

Level|Up's Alex Valle relayed the unfortunate news recently on social media stating "We were just informed today they cannot accommodate SCR due to delays with construction.

"This is extremely heartbreaking news for us as we worked extremely hard to produce an amazing event for the fighting game community in SoCal," said Valle.

Valle put a few options on the table though, to resolve this situation.

The first is to maintain their May 1-3, 2015 dates, but look for another venue in southern California.

Another alternative is to wait for construction to complete at the current venue, which will take over six weeks, forcing Level|Up to change the dates of the tournament.

Valle stated that they're absolutely determined to run the SCR (SoCal Regionals) this year, no matter what, and are currently reaching out to other venues to make the original May 1-3, 2015 dates a reality.

SoCal Regionals 2015 venue update

After months of planning with our current venue, we were just informed today they cannot accommodate SCR due to delays with construction. This is extremely heartbreaking news for us as we worked extremely hard to produce an amazing event for the fighting game community in SoCal.

So what happens next?

If we want to maintain the May 1-3 dates, we have to look for another venue in SoCal that can truly accommodate our needs. Another alternative is to wait for construction to complete at our current venue which will take over 6 weeks forcing us to change dates.

What are we going to do?

We are determined to run SCR this year no matter what and currently reaching out to other venues to make our May 1-3 dates. If we cannot find a venue in time to make our target dates, we’ll continue our efforts to find accommodations but on a later date. We can’t stress enough on how important it is to make sure we deliver this event for the fans. We will update everyone as soon as we have any SCR news.

What about those that booked flights / hotel?

We are truly sorry about the inconvenience. We are currently looking into options as mentioned above to possibly deliver the event as planned.

We appreciate your understanding,

Level|Up

Please keep in mind that this isn't a situation anyone wanted to happen — and unforeseen circumstances can strike any of us at any time. Still, it's clear Level|Up is rising up to this challenge to figure out the best solution from this point forward, so we'll keep you posted with what develops.
