Alex Valle reveals his biggest concern about Street Fighter 5

As far as the competitive fighting game scene is concerned, they don't get much more veteran and knowledgeable than LU|Alex Valle.

With a nickname like "Mr. Street Fighter," you can bet your bottom dollar that most of what Valle has to say is worth its weight when it comes to fighting games, and he's got a big concern for newcomers in Street Fighter 5.

Just yesterday, Valle tweeted out the following: This is a pretty broad statement at first glance, and could be alluding to multiple meanings. Luckily, the head of Level Up continues on to specify exactly what he means. Hit the jump for more.
It seems as though the Valle feels that Street Fighter 4 has done something of a disservice to players who are familiar with it and it alone.

Specifically, Valle seems to categorize the game's focus as bit of a departure from the importance of footsies, and feels this departure could make things incredibly hard for 09ers as they attempt to transition towards SF5.

When asked by Floe, "...what are [SF4 natives] gonna do without their focus dash and ambiguous vortex with safe jump 10-option, option selects?" Valle responded with, "[They'll] pick a character with minimal footsies and anti-footsie V-Skills/Triggers."

If I may put in my two cents, ultimately we have to remember that Street Fighter 4 is a different game. Adjustments will have to be made on many different levels as people transition to SF5. Great players are great, in part, because they are able to make such transitions efficiently.

Street Fighter 5's return to traditional SF values, if you will, will simply remove a crutch. Those that're unable to stand without it will fall, while others will adapt and perform. It will certainly be exciting to see how the community moves and shakes with the upcoming title.

What are your thoughts on Valle's statement? Are the Street Fighter 4 players truly in for such a rude awakening? Let us know in the comments.
