Lucas is banned from EVO 2015's Super Smash Bros. 4 tournament

Just yesterday, it was announced that Lucas -- Mother 3's main protagonist -- will be added to the playable Super Smash Bros. 4 roster as DLC.

While no solid release date for the character was given, Nintendo did state that he will become available to the public sometime in June. This begs the question: With EVO 2015 taking place the following month, will Lucas be allowed in the Super Smash Bros. 4 tournament?

As it turns out, no, he won't. According to Joey "Mr. Wizard" Cuellar -- one of the organizers of the event -- Lucas will be banned from tournament play.

Cuellar stated on Twitter that the character's release window is too close to the event, and as a result, players will not have adequate time to train against him. He did mention, however, that the balance update set to drop with Mewtwo later this month will be in full effect for EVO 2015.

Check out the tweet after the jump.
