Sales figures for Ultra Street Fighter 4 (retail and full digital editions) revealed in Capcom's FY2014 Q2 results presentation

Ultra Street Fighter 4 has sold a cumulative total of over 500,000 units across all platforms, Capcom revealed in a Fiscal Year 2014 Quarter 2 (FY2014 Q2) presentation to its investors this week.

This 500,000 figure accounts for the retail editions of the game as well as "full-game download" editions, which appears to imply that the digital upgrade editions of USF4 that came out in June for PS3 and X360 were not included in the tally.

To put that number in perspective, over 300,000 retail copies of Super Street Fighter 4 Arcade Edition (again, DLC upgrade editions not included here) were sold during the fiscal year quarter it was released.

That's nearly twice as many units of USF4 sold, but it's not exactly an apples-to-apples comparison here: the full version of USF4 was released in early August, which meant that the cumulative sales figures given here accounted for a sales period of nearly two months (up to September 30), whereas the retail version of SSF4 AE was released in the last week of June, mere days away from the tally cut-off date of June 30, 2011.

Besides, compared with other Capcom titles in recent years, 500,000 is but only a modest figure -- Dragon's Dogma: Dark Arisen did 650,000 during the quarter (FY2013 Q1) it was released in, and Resident Evil Revelations sold 1 million units in the same quarter.

No sales forecasts were provided for Ultra Street Fighter 4, so it's hard to say if the game managed to meet its sales expectations. Regardless, it appears that Capcom sees this as a positive result for them -- certainly important enough to mention it in their presentation to investors.
