Ultra Street Fighter 4 pre-order costume trailer

Posted by Steven 'Dreamking23' Chavez • May 15, 2014 at 8:13 a.m. PDT

A brand new Ultra Street Fighter 4 trailer has been released this morning.

In it, we get to see the pre-order costumes for the 5 new characters in USF4. These alternate outfits were designed by UDON, and will include Medieval Hugo, Jungle Elena, Pirate Poison, Wizard Rolento, and Gladiator Decapre.

Hit the jump to check it out.

Source: Capcom Unity.

Weird how they can make all these elaborate costumes but they still can't be bothered to make Decapre's default outfit look any better than a lazy Cammy recolor.

Where the hell are Capcom's priorities?

tidestick said on May 15, 2014 at 8:19 a.m.

Of course. Costumes sold separately

crewdreary said on May 15, 2014 at 8:20 a.m.

They're so...random.

YouDontKnowMe said on May 15, 2014 at 8:24 a.m.

Well, like any other publicly traded company Capcom's priorities are rightfully to their shareholders. In addition it's a $15 upgrade on a 5 year old game. That is pretty unusual for games.

Prophet said on May 15, 2014 at 8:24 a.m.

So, how do I preorder this for PSN? Do you just get these with retail version?

And its fukced as always: First I buy the PSN-Version, second I buy the PC-Version because it is better but comes out two month later, third I buy the PS4-Version because of extra stuff not yet announced (be prepared, this will come).

MCZ_Ryu said on May 15, 2014 at 8:24 a.m.

I'm just excited with there being new content. The endless amounts of flak that people are giving Capcom is tiring to read.

jimk23 said on May 15, 2014 at 8:26 a.m.

Excellent! Less than 3 weeks left!

YouDontKnowMe said on May 15, 2014 at 8:26 a.m.

It's a pre-order bonus. It doesn't cost anything extra.

arty said on May 15, 2014 at 8:33 a.m.

The costumes don't fit in SF world... sad
I thought before the alternative costumes are designed that this character might wear in different occasion.
Wizard Rolento? seriously? Rolento might kill himself if he needs to wear that...

BestAlgorithm said on May 15, 2014 at 8:40 a.m.

Wow, the Elena and Rolento costumes are amazing! On a side note...

'Well, like any other publicly traded company Capcom's priorities are rightfully to their shareholders.'

Hahaha, it always amazes me how many people love corporate ass kissing

BestAlgorithm said on May 15, 2014 at 8:42 a.m.

You don't HAVE to buy the potential PS4 release. There's no reason to unless they come out with some crazy exclusive content

PoisonKiss said on May 15, 2014 at 8:44 a.m.

Can you preorder the digital upgrade and get these?

devnullish said on May 15, 2014 at 8:46 a.m.

Yeah, because ghetto-do-rag Ryu, catwoman cammy, robot zangief, and cowboy ken (I could have went on and on here) fit right in with the street fighter universe. gtfo of here.

mrambitious said on May 15, 2014 at 8:49 a.m.

This is exactly why I just play on console until steam puts it on sale for $6.00 and buy the DLC on sale as well.
Example, paid 60 for sfxt, prob more like 100 w/ swaps alts and dlc chars. Returned the game cuz it sucked. They announced 2013, bought used for $40. PC ver goes on sale for 14.00 full roster and game so picked that up but couldnt play for another year b4 netcode and dlc chars became available. Somewhere in there I got the 25th anniversary set, so bought the game a 4th time. Had i just ignored the game until pc ver was good to go I would have saved nearly $180. And i agree 100% that ps4 and xb1 will get exclusive stuff and so i imagine atleast 3 purchases coming my way, Ps3 ps4 and pc.

I also thought these costumes were free if you have a sfxt save data on your system, when did that change?

Shinkutatsumaki said on May 15, 2014 at 8:50 a.m.

My wallet is ready :)

Sasuga said on May 15, 2014 at 8:56 a.m.

These costumes will be nerfed anyway.

metaf4 said on May 15, 2014 at 8:56 a.m.

sigh...They spend more time making alternate costumes than:

1. Rematch option in Endless 2 player lobbies (It just makes sense!)

2. Hitbox option in Training (Instead of carrying a huge book everywhere!)

3. Character Color edit like SFxT (This mode was amazing except for those awful neon colors)

4. Tournament Mode: Spectator/Commentator option
- Eliminating those tedious long streams that use Endless mode to do tournaments, where commentators have to pass their turn just to be a spectator and commentate matches in Online Tournaments. While a simple spectator mode in the ALREADY EMBEDDED TOURNAMENT MODE could easily fix this long unnecessary process. obviously they would have to add mute options so commentators would not be heard by fighters in progress, just other spectators and other fighters waiting in queue.

5. Improve the Connection rating by ping instead of reception bars
- Lord knows how many times I see Yellow bars and when I select it, it becomes green, or I see Green and it becomes Yellow...Or Unstable Greens that turn red by the time another person joins the lobby..simple ping would give a better indication if we should even trust or gamble with BP & PP when you see a 150 ping instead of just Yellow bars.

But nope, they'd rather make alternate clothes for characters in a game that's not even out yet! Trust me, I guarantee most of the fighting community would rather have any of the above modes added instead than having another costume choice. (make it clear: MOST would...but I know there are casual players out there that would rather extra clothes than a complete game...but hey, I'm not talking about the casuals...but the real SF Warriors that actually care about the quality of a game they've cared about over literally decades!)

Honestly?!? Some of these options are as simple as a days work in coding and editing, while an entire roster of alternate costumes was their way to go before launch?! Priorities Capcom?

Why are you people commenting on the ps4/xbox1 version like its gonna have some new character or something that would actually make it worth buying???

Unless there is some cross platform play between ps3/ps4 xbox360/xbox1 good luck finding any competition.

Also these costumes are cool :)

ryuhayabusa13 said on May 15, 2014 at 9:06 a.m.

Nobody said those were right either.

I agree would be more ideal to have Alternate outfits on what the character would wear based on their personality.
But no comments here will change those costumes anymore anyway.

And at least Elena one fits.

Do you guys do anything besides complain? Goodness.

DrDevice said on May 15, 2014 at 9:11 a.m.

Nope these are entirely new costumes. The ones they had in sfxt will be free if you have a save.

micksinjer said on May 15, 2014 at 9:16 a.m.

I don't understand how to preorder. Preorder the digital copy? How?

Preorder the disk release? That's two months later.

Does anyone know how this works?

joyoza said on May 15, 2014 at 9:34 a.m.

The real question is will the other characters get new costumes? Even if some are from SFxT. I wouldn't mine the samurai Akuma outfit in USF4.

Cardinair said on May 15, 2014 at 9:34 a.m.

Alternate costumes are made by the art team, who have pretty much nothing to do with programming and coding. Creating them for the new characters had pretty much zero impact on development time for the rest of the game.

Redgouf said on May 15, 2014 at 9:36 a.m.

For people asking about Digital Pre-Orders (I had the same question too), head over to USFIV's official website. There's no stores setup yet, but they will update the links when they are.

Mecha Zangief and Cowboy Ken actually have history with the respective characters.

Mecha Zangief first appeared in Marvel Super Heroes vs Street Fighter back in 1997 (Also known as "Metal Zangief")

And Cowboy Ken is from Pocket Fighters (AKA Super Gem Fighter Mini Mix) also released in 1997

this is some ugly sh*t!

GordonsBeard said on May 15, 2014 at 9:52 a.m.

The fudge?

Wizard Rolento?
Pirate Poison?
Medieval Hugo?

It's like they just picked three random themes out of a hat and went with it. Jungle Elena's doesn't look too bad and I'm glad that Poison at least gets pants to wear with her Pirate outfit but...

This is kind of an ugly set of costumes, and that's saying a lot when you've got Blanka's Carnivale costume.

Yung said on May 15, 2014 at 10:08 a.m.

I just hope I can get those costumes without the pre-order (it already sucks that I have to pay for costumes, but yeah, well, whatevs)

HawtBawls said on May 15, 2014 at 10:27 a.m.

Meh SF4 in general has been ugly. These costumes blow. The default costumes look better.

Cael said on May 15, 2014 at 10:28 a.m.

Hoping that Decapre gets the fixed haircolor on her standard costume as well. Looks alot better than the washed out blonde she currently has.

TrueGamingGuru said on May 15, 2014 at 10:31 a.m.

The only thing that is interesting about the DLC costumes in this trailer and that would be Elena's (since it fits) & Decapre's hair color (which I wish was on her default costume for Color 1), but the rest looks out of place.

Character Color Edit would've been a nice addition, I approve. (Neon colors could be another thing to recreate colors based off characters, like Shadow & Shadow Lady from MSHvsSF & MVC respectively)

So far nothing has been conformed if the other characters are even going to get new costumes. (not even SFXT costumes) Unless something has changed, were only going to see the UDON comics & the 5 SFXT costumes.

mrambitious said on May 15, 2014 at 10:31 a.m.

Wizard Rolento is terrible. Look at the model and tell me they didn't just copy paste Akuma's hoody, guys gauntlets, and other bits and pieces of already made costumes.

Hugo's is oddly shaped, pirate poison I actually like but that's because of a personal love for One Piece, and jungle Elena... first off he regular outfit EASILY can already work as a "jungle" costume since she already looks like a tribesman already... that one must have taken weeks to think up...

"Ok, she's colored, dances well, is under dressed, and wears traditionally African / Islander jewelry... Hmmmm... Jungle!"

School Girl Elena from sfxt is a great alt, jungle themed Elena is stupid.

YouDontKnowMe said on May 15, 2014 at 10:32 a.m.

Is my statement incorrect somehow? Simply stating a fact. It seems likely you have very little knowledge of how business function. Or you feel that because you spent a whole $60 on a video game you are Capcom's #1 priority.

BestAlgorithm said on May 15, 2014 at 10:43 a.m.

No, I'm not saying it's incorrect. I'm laughing at how many people don't mind getting bent over because that's what they think corporations should do

You should be fighting to make yourself the #1 priority for a corporation, not investors. But hey, if you want to bow down to them instead of the other way around... there are 7 billion people on this planet. I've already wasted enough time on one

metaf4 said on May 15, 2014 at 10:44 a.m.

Ok...granted. So basically Capcom's "development team" has only done config during character select, uploading matches option, modified team mode, and online training mode?

Which one of these are actually gonna be used on a regular basis? Team matches...really? Uploading matches...you gonna sit there for 20min every time you want to upload a 480p replay? And Training online? Honestly....It's just 2 plyer endless lobbies with no timer and Unlimited meter...Not much work to be done by a "Development Team".

Then they just throw the game out to the masses to game test for them and then wait for us to find glitches and balance problems so they can just throw out another DLC update later down the road...not cool.

ZDH513 said on May 15, 2014 at 10:57 a.m.

Man i hope they sell the outfits in a pack like all the other ones i really want that Elena Outfit :(

YouDontKnowMe said on May 15, 2014 at 10:58 a.m.

But that is how large companies stay in business and grow. Any business, no matter how large or small is designed to make money, not be your best friend. So yes I think that is what corporations should do but I fail to see how I am getting "bent over" by Capcom. They produce a product and I decide if it provides enough of a value to justify the expense.

mrambitious said on May 15, 2014 at 10:58 a.m.

I agree with what you said, but this goes back into the consumer over investor argument ppl are having. Investors would be seriously displeased if Capcom started pouring money into developing the 5th installment of a 5 year old game that, lets be real here, the average gamer has no desire to ever play. Once you leave the FGC, there's VERY little love for fighters.

The copy paste, shotty programming, bad balance updates (for some), and just plain useless features is easily attributed to keeping the big wigs happy. These wigs understand the fans desire for updates and features, but knows they can't make anything off of hardcore fans, so we get USF4, "the final installment" which will either require a 2015 update to fix all the horrible programming or Capcom will take the NRS update model and just update monthly.

Capcom_Warrior said on May 15, 2014 at 10:58 a.m.

I pre-ordered my disc copy on Amazon a few weeks back and I never saw or received anything about DLC costumes. I'll be pissed if I pre-ordered too early.

No, you're right. It's the way the real world works. I just hate that people accept it... voting with your wallet is a nice idea but doesn't seem to work out too well in so many cases

Xykes said on May 15, 2014 at 3:35 p.m.

Decapre is an existing character. They didn't make her up just now.

She existed since Alpha 3. And, THAT WAS ALWAYS HER FRICKING OUTFIT.

LordGlyph said on May 15, 2014 at 3:45 p.m.

You honestly think that Africa is full of jungles??? Yes there are some, but a large portion of the continent is open Plains land. Elena's default costume is her tribal wear, denoting the plains and her homeland. Whereas the jungle costume would indicate other areas of the land, including the rainforest, which is the main influence. Sorry for the off topic post, but quit being so one track minded about the costumes, but Capcom wants the game to look great. I, for one, don't want to play a game that may play awesome but look like s***. I also don't want a game that looks great but play like ass either.
Just like the balancing Capcom is doing to the fighters, they also have to keep a good balance of great game play and awesome art. Get over yourselves, people!!!

swordsman09 said on May 15, 2014 at 3:45 p.m.

I actually do like the majority of these costumes.

Elena's couldn't have been better.

Rolento's just looks badass!

Poison's suits her well enough. It looks good on her.

Decapre's works I guess. It fits her mask thing.

Hugo's does not look right however. It reminds me of SCII Astaroth.

AkumaShadow said on May 15, 2014 at 3:57 p.m.

I only like Elena and Poison costumes, the other 3 are crap

I'd like to see more SFxT costumes to transfer to Ultra like Zombie Bison, Police Cody, Samurai Akuma and Afro Dudley

mechmaster90 said on May 15, 2014 at 4:07 p.m.

This is pretty much the case for every PC game these days.
I play mostly on PC nowadays and I can't even remember the last time I paid for a game at its full retail "console" price. The only downside is that PC ports are usually pretty poor (MK9 comes to mind) and/or suffer from a lack of players online compared to console versions.

Cardinair said on May 15, 2014 at 6:15 p.m.

TrueGamingGuru said on May 16, 2014 at 10:17 a.m.

Its what SnakeX said in another USFIV topic: "releasing a physical copies of games takes longer than digital ones. There's a whole extra layer of production and distribution involved." Just imagine you have blank disc and in order to have a disc ver. of USFIV, from taking the content from SFIV, SSFIV, SSFIVAE, and finally USFIV which may be one of the reasons it takes longer (like 2 months) considering the amount of data, programming, & coding.

When a digital one doesn't really take too long, since every content that came from SSFIV-SSFIVAE is already within the systems memory. Adding content for USFIV on digital doesn't take too long since the coding & programming is already set.

I'm alllllll about it. I just hope that I don't have to wait on June 3rd to download this upgrade because of the pre-order.... if that's the case I will not be a happy camper.
