General news roundup - DoA5: Ultimate's Marie Rose and another new character for consoles in March, MvC Origins patch notes, BB: CT added to Steam

There's some general news for several games to be reported this morning. To start off, we've got some information regarding Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate.

Team Ninja were present at the JAEPO Show in Japan this weekend, where they announced that the recent addition to the Dead or Alive universe, Marie Rose, would be released as DLC for consoles in March, alongside another new character.

The new upcoming character was said to appear in the ending for the arcade version of Dead or Alive 5: Ultimate.

SF3O patch notes, which I sent in a couple of days ago, would have fit into the round up as well, unless I missed them somehow.

TrueGamingGuru said on February 15, 2014 at 8:48 a.m.

I'm really looking forward on getting my hands on Marie Rose for DOA5 Ultimate & excited to see what the new character is, even March is going to be the month of my birthday. I'm looking forward to what Team Ninja has to offer.

sarif2soon said on February 15, 2014 at 8:54 a.m.

Hmm, nice idea putting news together in one article. Allows for more articles per day.

Though, I have a suggestion: Try putting each news under its own heading so it's easier to find in case there's multiple news.

floorwalker said on February 15, 2014 at 8:58 a.m.

Marie Rose looks interesting, I'm wondering if she has a new stage as well. Looking forward to her playstyle and outfits.

cadnexus said on February 15, 2014 at 8:59 a.m.

If you played story mode and viewed the end credits you already seen the character, it's the black hooded Kasumi clone that was crying at the end.
arcade ending is the same as the Console ending so yeah it is what it is. I'm more interested to see if they're going to add a new level.

NoizyChild said on February 15, 2014 at 9:03 a.m.

The real question here is, who in the hell is still playing MVCO in the first place?

Wardog said on February 15, 2014 at 9:04 a.m.

TN please bring back Ryo Hazuki from Shenmue series. Also put in Lan Di
from the series.

I can see it now... place your bets, who will win between.

Lan Di vs Lau Chan

Wrong MvC game to update #kappa

Why CT for steam? Are they judging the sales from that game to determine if the sequels are worth porting? Or are they simply going in order?

Finally some solid news for Marie Rose coming roughly a month to consoles. Didn't expect another character too, but it's likely the hooded female.

ShiroiKaze said on February 15, 2014 at 9:13 a.m.

CT for Steam is just a sloppy port over from the GFWL live version with online stripped out. ASW had nothing to do with the port... it's just some obscure publisher taking advantage of their old license. Guilty Gear Isuka had the same thing happen on Steam a couple weeks ago.

TrueGamingGuru said on February 15, 2014 at 9:16 a.m.

Oh yeah, I've seen her before. I've actually played Story Mode twice in the original DOA5, (the second time is where I accidentally deleted my save file, which I had to do all over again) and have seen that Kasumi clone along with the cliffhanger for a possible for DOA6 based on the dialogue of Victor Donovan & Rig. I didn't think that she was going to be added as the next new playable character.

This is going to be fun Marie Rose & black hooded Kasumi clone in DOA5U. That would be cool to see new levels, and would be interested to see more content. From costumes, maybe DOA1 music (if they do add it in), & maybe extra features. Definitely really love what Team Ninja is doing for DOA5U.

Team Ninja would need to get permission from AM2, (which is the same group that worked on Virtua Fighter & Shenmue) and AM2 have only worked with Team Ninja for the Virtua Fighter characters. Its not that its impossible, the real question is would AM2 even allow Team Ninja to add Ryo Hazuki & maybe Lan Di.

DeadlyCreampuff said on February 15, 2014 at 9:22 a.m.

One nice thing aboutt he Isuka one is however that they were open to hearing what other ports people would like to see brought to steam, though they mentioned no promises as arcsys would need to okay them, but they were willing. So heres hoping Arcsys gives Kiss ltd the go ahead.

ShiroiKaze said on February 15, 2014 at 9:28 a.m.

So we can get more ports with bad controller support, no online, and no Steamworks features? No thanks... I rather have ASW do the ports themselves. SNK has set the bar with KOF XIII Steam Edition, PC users should expect that level of quality.

cadnexus said on February 15, 2014 at 9:36 a.m.

Unless team ninja confirms no new characters after the new one next month, I wouldn't be surprised if they added more. I've never heard them dis-confirm Ryo, or even Tengu or other possible characters. So they are both still possible.

H3ARTZ said on February 15, 2014 at 9:41 a.m.

Team ninja must be making a lot of money off of those swimsuits. Where they getting the money to make more characters for this game?

Sadisticcupid said on February 15, 2014 at 9:42 a.m.

She's getting the non-halloween castle stage

TrueGamingGuru said on February 15, 2014 at 9:47 a.m.

Anything is possible, if Team Ninja does decide to add more characters or add ones from Shenmue it would be interesting to see. If I remember correctly that in one of the interviews actually mention that Ryo was going to be cameo, but that was when DOA5 was in development. They might just add him as a character anyway. Will just see what Team Ninja does next in the future.

Lockm said on February 15, 2014 at 10:03 a.m.

BB:CP nobody gives a sh*t about anymore, release CP on steam not older version of games nobody wants.

Cool to see DOA5U doing well enough to allow for extra characters.

Teinted_Gene said on February 15, 2014 at 10:32 a.m.

Though I find this unlikely... I ALWAYS upvote Shenmue. +1

on that note:
I want to see the rest of Shenmue in the rest of my life time SEGA!!!

Mopz said on February 15, 2014 at 10:32 a.m.

I hope they add in an anti-thesis character to Marie Flop, like something of a bara kind of male...

Who am I kidding tho?! MOAR BEWBS!!! TroLOL

Wardog said on February 15, 2014 at 10:48 a.m.

Yes, Shenmue 3 please!

Sega need to do a HD release for Shenmue 1&2. Those games was freaking awesome. "I'm looking for sailors" lol

That game got some much replay ability... specially the quick time punching game.

drillbit777 said on February 15, 2014 at 11:03 a.m.

Problem is that is BB CP is PS3 exclusive ad its going to stay like that for a while along with P4A 2

Virtua_Kazama said on February 15, 2014 at 11:07 a.m.

It might not be another Kasumi, but who knows? I'll wait until then.

It is not certain that Marie Rose will be out before or after Final Round.

cadnexus said on February 15, 2014 at 11:30 a.m.

It's pretty obvious, it's a new Kasumi clone that will have new moves.

swordsman09 said on February 15, 2014 at 11:54 a.m.

Her stage is the Halloween Lorelei they added in. No new stage. Sorry.

You guys should start working to see who the next character is.

TrueGamingGuru said on February 15, 2014 at 12:31 p.m.

Lets just say that the lady in the black hooded cloak at the end of DOA5 Story Mode looks similar to Kasumi, (if you look closely) she may not be the same as Kasumi, Kasumi Alpha, & not even Alpha-152. But it could be another clone, if that exact character also appeared in the ending of Arcade version (which is said to be the Arcade ending is the same as the Console ending) & her identity was revealed. Will definitely be getting more details later on.

Marie Rose will be out either way whether its before or after the Final Round, and its something that will be worth playing.

Sanox said on February 15, 2014 at 12:44 p.m.

yo what. a second character for doa5u GOOD STUFF TEAM NINJA

team ninja doing it right.

i do not care if they have costumes worth more than 100 bucks in the store as long as dlc characters are free.

characters should never ever be paid dlc

TheLaw said on February 15, 2014 at 1:48 p.m.

theres two stages... the halloween version and the regular version. They're supposedly releasing Marie Rose with the regular version.

SoftShocks said on February 15, 2014 at 2:29 p.m.

DOA5U its a great game and is constantly pumping out dlc.
Good to see that game succeed

Virtua_Kazama said on February 15, 2014 at 3:34 p.m.

I'm assuming this is Phase 4 that Rig and his father, Donovan were mentioning. If this is another clone of Kasumi, then so be it. I'm just curious on how she plays.

FlynnChop said on February 15, 2014 at 3:54 p.m.

It's interesting to watch company after company after company push new characters into their games successfully and announce them shortly before showing them.

How many new characters have been created from scratch in the time since USF4 announced its 5th new character? How many entire fighting games?

Not trying to troll- I can't wait for the 5th character's reveal. Just saying. Wth. How small is the USFIV dev team?

GenSoHotSpicy said on February 15, 2014 at 4:23 p.m.

First Marie Rose and next a Kasumi clone? Ughhh. Can they make this game even more retarded? This game already has too many female characters and when playing online they all look the same when in swimsuits. VF5FS is so much better than this preteen circle jerk of a game.

HooliganComboFTW said on February 15, 2014 at 4:33 p.m.

How is there too many female characters when there are roughly the same amount of male characters? Which ironically has a better balanced m/f ratio then Tekken, SC, or VF. Oh forgot logic has no place within this area. Don't reason with a fanboy.

Virtua_Kazama said on February 15, 2014 at 6:16 p.m.

Haters gonna hate, I guess.

Before we all jump to conclusions (like what this whole community does all the time), let's just stop and think for a sec.

TrueGamingGuru said on February 15, 2014 at 6:20 p.m.

It could be Phase 4, since DOA Tech uses DNA of the ninja characters mostly Kasumi. My possible guess is that she is going to have a very strong speed, (based on the cutscenes from DOA5 Story Mode) more improvement than Alpha-152, and very likely to teleport. Will eventually see more details about the Phase 4 character once March comes around.

DarkPhoenixRises said on February 15, 2014 at 7:16 p.m.

I hope if it is that Hooded Girl (well since it is likely that hooded girl) I hope she isn't a Kasumi Alpha clone, and if she is a clone I hope she's a Kasumi Ayane hybrid like she looks more like Ayane long purple hair styled maybe like Kasumi and she fights like all the ninjas combined. Yay for Kayane phase four of the Alpha project, or MIST project, or what ever project they are on.

LK said on February 15, 2014 at 9:41 p.m.

Still waiting for that ultimate DLC bundle for Ultimate.

mechmaster90 said on February 15, 2014 at 9:58 p.m.

Isn't Marie Rose basically Rachel Alucard in 3D ?

TrueGamingGuru said on February 15, 2014 at 11:19 p.m.

Actually Marie Rose isn't the same as Rachel Alucard, the only thing these two characters are very common is part of a subculture fashion in Japan known as Lolita Fashion.

Here are some examples of the Lolita Fashion:

Despite their similar that doesn't mean that one character is basically the same character but in a 2D or 3D perspective, all it really takes is learning about culture from fashion, ancient demons, or life-style mostly Japan.

Dimensional said on February 16, 2014 at 3:29 a.m.

Good to see DOA5 still being supported by the devs I must admit I stopped playing because I could never find a match due to the broken one player match finding but I tried it after the patch and bam a crap ton of matches and while they werent flawless they were very playable.
I hope they continue to support it as its easily the best DOA game to date and a solid fighter in its own right, not to fussed about the new character though she just dosent interest me.

FightDirty said on February 16, 2014 at 8:03 a.m.

Looking at the character select screen, I always thought that it would make more sense for TN to release 2 new fighters instead of just one. Hope it´s not just another Kasumi clone but whatever. Mari Rose, what an I say. I guess she can´t be any sillier than Leifang.

I´m sure that TN is making a killing from the alt. costumes. I have spent a lot of money on them myself.

LarsMasters said on February 16, 2014 at 8:03 a.m.

:| why not just add Chrono Phantasma on Steam as addition

AntiSexist said on February 17, 2014 at 5:09 p.m.

Seriously dude shut up and quit being a sexist douche, so having a game not be a total sausage and have equality in gender means that the game is retarded? Why are you being so anti-woman? You sound like a 4 year old boy who thinks girls being in a fighting game is a bad thing. There is a 15:14 girl-guy cast which I find pretty fair and reasonable

And DOA is mainly focused on the female characters anyway, So I suggest playing UFC where you can play all the muscular men tackling each other and sweating on one another all you want. (shoot based off your user name you'd probably enjoy it a lot)
