Update: We've added the trailer to this post. Check it out and let us know in the comments what you notice.

Earlier: While we were treated to some quick glimpses of the upcoming Street Fighter 5 a few weeks ago, the only characters we got to see were series mainstays Ryu and Chun-Li. Today, at Capcom Cup, Capcom decided to treat its fans to something both old and new, in the form of Guile's long-lost best friend, Charlie Nash.

Charlie Nash was a fan-favourite back in the Street Fighter Alpha series, movesetwise being the Ken to Guile's Ryu, but hasn't been seen since, either in the games or the story surrounding them.

Ono also took the stage to confirm that Capcom would reveal more details about the fighting system at a later date, but that every character would be "much more unique than you can ever expect".

With everything pointing to Street Fighter 5 taking place, canonically, after the Alpha series, this would finally put Guile's anguish to rest, and confirm that Charlie is in fact, still alive. To those fans who never stopped believing, this must be a truly magnificent announcement.

Judging by the trailer, it seems likely that Charlie might not be the friend Guile used to know, but is in fact under control of something sinister. What do you think? Let us know in the comments.
