There's a 3D King of Fighters game in the works -- but it's not yet been officially announced. And it will likely be ages before that new title will see the light of day.

In the meantime, however, it looks like SNK Playmore is continuing to work out collaboration crossovers with other game makers.

Following Mai Shiranui and Hanzo Hattori's appearances in MMORPG Wizardry Online, three KOF'98 characters are crossing over into the Japanese version of Korean-developed MOBA title, Core Masters.

From now till September 30, a The King of Fighters '98 X Core Masters collaboration campaign will allow gamers to play as Kyo Kusanagi, Iori Yagami or Athena Asamiya in this 3D MOBA title, complete with most of their signature attacks.

Three videos of the characters in action in this crossover campaign are available; check them out below.
On top of the videos, there are also some art and voice samples over at the game's official site here.

Although MOBA is a vastly different genre from fighting games, I have to say that Iori's moves that summon his flames of destrction, in particular, actually fit quite well into the MOBA title.
