5 characters that should make guest appearances in Mortal Kombat X

In a recent interview, NetherRealm Studios' own Ed Boon confirmed that there will be console-exclusive guest characters in Mortal Kombat X.

Mortal Kombat 9, released back in 2011, had its own cameo fighter -- Kratos from God of War -- however, he was exclusive only to PlayStation 3 as Sony owns the rights to the franchise. We also saw the Dream King himself, (no, not me), Freddy Krueger enter the ring as post-release DLC, although he was available across all platforms.

NetherRealm kept with the motif in their next fighting title, Injustice: Gods Among Us, as Mortal Kombat's fiery ninja Scorpion guest starred as a playable character in the DC Comics brawler.

Since we'll be seeing more guests in NRS' upcoming Mortal Kombat X, we here at EventHubs have selected 5 different characters that we'd like to see make an appearance. Some of the following content may be considered NSFW, so proceed with that in mind.

Spawn

Spawn is an easy pick, and one that I've expressed previously here on the site. His arsenal includes super strength, teleportation, shape-shifting, healing, and even mastery in martial arts and weapon-based battle, making him a shoe-in for any fighting game.

On character design alone, Spawn would fit perfectly into the Mortal Kombat universe. Also, just think of the Fatalities he could have!

Spawn has already made an appearance as a playable fighter in Namco Bandai's Soul Calibur 2, so his return to the fray is definitely a possibility.

Ash - Evil Dead series

Ashley Williams, or "Ash" for short, is a man who knows a thing or two about slaying creatures that go bump in the night. Forced to chop off his own hand after being bitten by a Deadite, (a person possessed by the Necronomicon that acts much like a zombie), Ash wields a freakin' chainsaw on his right arm where his lost extremity used to be.

His skills aren't just limited to one weapon, though, as Ash also proves proficient with a sawed-off double barrel shotgun. Don't cross a man when he's equipped with a Boom Stick...

"Shop smart. Shop S-Mart!"

Jason - Friday the 13th

Considering Freddy Krueger, one of the most popular Slasher film icons of all time, made an appearance in the last Mortal Kombat game, it's only natural that Friday the 13th's Jason be considered. The hockey-masked menace towers over his victims, cutting them down to size with a massive machete.

Jason isn't the most agile of the Slasher icons, but that certainly doesn't mean he can't fight. (See video below.)

...Fatality.

Locust Drone - Gears of War

Xbox 360 players, in a sense, drew the short straw when it came to Mortal Kombat 9. Only PlayStation 3 users were given a console-exclusive character, so this time around we'd like to see Microsoft fans shown some love.

Enter the Gears of War Locust Drone. Most any character from the Gears of War franchise would fit well in the Mortal Kombat universe, but something about the Locust Drone just feels right to us.

Anyone who has played a GOW title in the past knows that these villains are not opposed to slicing enemies in half with a Lancer, but perhaps his fighting style could include projectile based-combat if he were to be included in MKX. Hey, Stryker can shoot bullets and throw grenades in Mortal Kombat. Why couldn't a Locust do the same?!

Slice knowing ya!

Hellboy

Personally, I'd like to see Hellboy in Mortal Kombat X more than any of the other aforementioned characters. As an agent of the B.P.R.D., this monstrous red devil-man is no stranger to the occult.

Hellboy holds the key to the end of the world in his right hand; well, technically it is his right hand, and it is indestructible. He also has super-human strength, and wields a massive revolver that can easily strike fear into his opponents.

It should be noted that Hellboy is immune to fire. Looks like we'll have our first 10-0 match-up in Mortal Kombat history. Sorry, Scorpion...

You gotta be kitten me...
