Blackest Night DLC pack trailer for Injustice: Gods Among Us - Which character didn't get a fair shake in battle arena?

Posted by Jonathan 'Catalyst' Grey • March 8, 2013 at 10:30 a.m. PST
Some gameplay footage of the Blackest Night DLC pack, based on the comic book series of the same name, has made its way online courtesy of MKSecrets. You get to see various stars of Injustice: Gods Among Us using the new skins in the footage below.
Also, the official Injustice Facebook page is currently holding a poll asking readers which fighter didn't get a fair shake in round 1 of the battle arena. You can scope out the current results after the jump.

The poll is still ongoing, so you can head on over to vote, if you'd like to.

I really really dislike dlc announcements done before launch in any game, feel like I'm getting less content, when ND announced their season pass for Uncharted 3 I cancelled my preorder, still got the game later at a discounted price, looks like I'll be doing the same with Injustice.

Ing_Goodface said on March 8, 2013 at 10:48 a.m.

Zombified Solomon Grundy? Yo dawg...

ArcShawdow said on March 8, 2013 at 10:51 a.m.

@ 1

I don't understand your logic behind that. Do you know how many companies finish DLC and won't tell fans before the game is released? You are very much entitled to do as you please but you should not feel like you are getting "less content". You are getting the content they originally planned for you to get. These are just zombie outfits and not even worth caring about. I believe Capcom has spoiled everyone's outlook on how companies have used DLC.

@Mexican_Guy #1
I cancelled my Uncharted 3 and rented it. All you need Uncharted 3 is the single player anyway. I feel bad for anyone who bought an online pass now that U3s multiplayer is free to play.
I agree on this though, this stuff again, is BS. I doubt I'll get Injustice at full price because of this.

What's wrong being consumer cautious these days?

WBK_ZER0 said on March 8, 2013 at 10:58 a.m.

slightly more excited that the black lanterns are getting some show but i'm kinda tired of zombies in games altogether it seems played out now. Maybe some of the other lanterns can get some light like in the comics like the flash gets a blue ring and wonder woman gets a violet ring batman gets a yellow ring ETC.

There's nothing wrong with that, but ArcShadow has a point. Capcom ruined DLC in fighting games for almost everyone, with most gamers thinking it was either planned from the very start, or they purposefully held it off the disc. Never mind that NRS has never pulled a stunt like that...

Liberator said on March 8, 2013 at 11:24 a.m.

that wasn't the point of Mexican_Guy's post...he basically says he dislike all kind of DLCs announcements before the actual release of the game, not that he dislikes that companies pull off Capcom's stunt!...he never said that, i was against all kind of DLCs from the very first day they became a fashion and i'm still its opponent now!...DLCs in general is unfair disadvantage for those who for some reason can't download it, thus leaving them with less content than someone who have access to live service/ can download them!...i'm the one, who believes any kind of in-game content should be included on the day 1 on the disc without any exceptions!...and if you feel its so important for to make pre-order items to help to promote the game and increase the hype, make those pre-order items real-life and not in-game content!

Grimmjow_J said on March 8, 2013 at 11:25 a.m.

Yo....! Did any of you guys see Static Shock moves? Because I didn't. Where the hell is Static Shock!

BumblebeeCody said on March 8, 2013 at 11:37 a.m.

I'll just wait until someone on NeoGAF opens up for disc. But so far, the amount of DLC announced is pretty ridiculous. Red Son DLC was announced in October 2012...

These "DLCs" are just pre-order bonuses, not true DLC and, even so, NRS will probably release all costumes in a pack later on like they did for MK9.

Evil_Hayato said on March 8, 2013 at 11:56 a.m.

Best Buy is offering the Zombie Mode and Black Lantern Batman DLC as preorder bonus.. just to let anyone know that wants to get it day one.

jtir123 said on March 8, 2013 at 12:12 p.m.

I think rewarding loyal fans is a good thing (those who want the game to the point of putting money forward pre-release). What incentive would there be to pre-order?

Snake_Eyes said on March 8, 2013 at 12:27 p.m.

these are pre-order bonuses, they obviously have to be DLC

Cinderkin said on March 8, 2013 at 12:33 p.m.

This is why I will be renting this day one and picking up the complete edition. I'm not getting taken like I did with MK9. I will enjoy the game for what it is and buy it once it's completed. There is a ridiculous amount of DLC already for this game.

Loyal fans are the ones getting screwed over. Pre order incentives are terrible nowadays because a real fan of something wants every little bit they can get of a game. Unless you plan to pre order the game 4 times (gamestop, best buy, walmart, amazon) you will always miss something. It's lame.

maxs2d2ace said on March 8, 2013 at 12:42 p.m.

this kind of sucks really. i mean they are going a little over board with the dlc. just look at the way they are doing things
per-order from walmart you get zombies
per-order from amazone you get arkham city skins
per-order from gamestop you get red son pack and skins

not to mention the dlc included with the collectors edition, plus the dlc characters coming for the game. its not like mk9 where it was just one skin for one of three characters. its hard to tell where to order from cause if your smart you order from gamespot sense it has the red son pack which has story elements. so its going to cost more in the long run if you dont buy it instead of the other choices available.
as much as im excited for this game, ill wait for a bundle. although its good its mostly skins and not game changing elements like characters or GEMS

SHAZAMforInjustice said on March 8, 2013 at 12:45 p.m.

And of course Shazam is winning.
But meh I dont care about costumes.I'm gettign the Red Son one because they have bonus story.

Rocklee77 said on March 8, 2013 at 12:51 p.m.

I'll wait for the complete edition =p

EvilRick said on March 8, 2013 at 12:59 p.m.

Yo dwag! I heard you like zombies so we zombified a zombie so you can kill zombies whilu u kill a zombie!

SilentBob said on March 8, 2013 at 1:01 p.m.

So instead of the actual Blackest Night costumes, like the first Batman image you see in the trailer, we're getting the normal costumes with a grunge texture over them and red eyes? Unless they poorly made the announcement in the trailer and you're only getting the BN Batman and the Zombie costumes?

Either way, the zombies ones must have taken them a whopping 2 minutes to make using a grunge brush over the normal textures.

alfarin said on March 8, 2013 at 1:30 p.m.

@1 It's costumes. Visual extras. Not big stuff. Cool your jets, hot stuff and save the whining for something that actually needs to be whined about

jadeguy said on March 8, 2013 at 1:31 p.m.

It's not because the fact of the fair shake. The match ups were lame and we knew who would've won (ex. Wonder Woman could beat Harley Quinn) Harley Quinn should've gone against someone like Catwoman. I really didnt enjoy those battle arena fights.

TrueGamingGuru said on March 8, 2013 at 1:41 p.m.

You know for thoes who has a dislike with DLC in general shouldn't really focus against NRS or Capcom etc., Because when comes to DLC in general blame the console marketing which Sony & Microsoft are the ones that decides the future of gaming. While third party companies are nothing compare to the ones that created our consoles and the certain DLC content with Sonic Adventure games on Dreamcast.

Since the days of PC games, there were plenty of expansion packs that seprate from the original version. From Wolfenstein 3D, Jazz Jackrabbit, & Duke Nukem 3D to name a few.

When comes to what content will be in the game, since the days when we had cartridge, cds, & dvds etc. for games. There is always a secret within the games certain levels, certain characters, and extra stuff which would've been in the game however they're meant to be left out due to timed release dates even limited hardware. This is the reason why DLC or Expansion Packs exist in the generation of gaming.

Fighting games in general will always get a upgrade versions of certain games for consoles even if its seprate, because online expansion packs were never there for fighter games. Besides Fighting games are very different from other genre games, requires alot of balance.

Heck the Sonic had his fair share with extra versions starting off with Sonic 3 when the game was suppose to have alot of levels even play as Knuckles (who you can't play as in the original) but have to be left out to time issue, which later Sonic & Knuckles had a special cartridge known as Lock-On Technology where you can put in another game on top of the special cartridge to play games with extra content.

Heck the Expansion packs for consoles (or the birth of DLC) origin from the Nintendo 64 add-on system the N64 Disc Drive (which didn't sell too well) and from the true console successor the Dreamcast which was the first to have add-on content certain games supported, then later the Xbox original started DLC also but only certain games.

DLC was always meant to be paid, because thats the policy for Sony & Microsoft with their online stores. Even expansion packs before PS3 & Xbox 360 will always have a price tag, because thats the reality of the gaming marketing.

Feel free to start bashing these effing morons to the same degree that you bashed SFxT.

The only difference..... Storage space.

EvilRick said on March 8, 2013 at 2:52 p.m.

@26 You can't compare free pre-order DLC costumes to 12 complete characters and 2 sets of costumes for the entire cast buddy.

And altough I can see you're showing a need for starting a conflict I'm afarid it's not going to work this time so piss off. ^^

Aluppoj said on March 8, 2013 at 2:55 p.m.

I was really looking forward to this game, but like others, I'm having MK9 flashbacks. I got the game, got the characters, then they put out the Komplete Edition at a discount price with more stuff. Bottom line is, I could have waited and got it, but I had to have it now. I'm just gonna have to wait and see if I'm gonna wait on this one now....

DangerousBacon said on March 8, 2013 at 4 p.m.

Pre-order bonuses =/= DLC

How the hell are 3 Pre-order bonuses a "ridiculous amount of DLC"? Shaking my Head.

Aluppoj said on March 8, 2013 at 4:03 p.m.

I'm sure you don't. Because you are a hypocrite.

Evil_Hayato said on March 8, 2013 at 4:11 p.m.

@32 what did they add that was the more stuff in the komplete edition? Everything Ive read was just the same stuff that was already available just in a bundled edition. I know for the Vita version they added alot more stuff like some extra costumes and challenges focused on the vitas touch screen and such but not on the console version.

Cinderkin said on March 8, 2013 at 4:38 p.m.

Did you not see that they are adding DLC characters? Did you not see that I mention fans usually want every bit of a game that comes out?

How is it fair that I can't get the "complete" game without spending a ridiculous amount of money?

Why can't I spend $60 and get the whole game.

EvilRick said on March 8, 2013 at 5:01 p.m.

@34 OWell, it seem someone here really wants to start a fight, now isn't he?

How about a bit of honesty here Allupoj? ARe you upsset, salty or plain butthurt over something?

You're truly calling me an hypocrite for not buying an overated title such as SF x Tekken which is barebones in content, wich has a ridiculous ammount of DLC THAT IS alredy in the initial disc and that is only focused to please "pro gamers"? Because I'm looking forward to a title that has plenty of initial content, a decent rooster of characters, cool story mode, altern costumes already included, mini-games, challengues, which both pros and casuals can enjoy and that ah sonly anounced so far 3 pre-order bonus DLC packs that only contain a couple of altern costumes?

Seriously, you need to grow up and learn to put everything behind, you're the one trying to get into a fight here, not me.

DangerousBacon said on March 8, 2013 at 5:04 p.m.

And you know that this will be a ridiculous amount of money how? Until prices are released you can't say that you're going to have to spend a lot of money. Besides, these are Pre-order bonuses. Nothing necessary. Actual characters are the only thing truly "necessary" but we don't know how much they cost and how many of them we are getting. Like others have said before. You can just wait if you're too upset about Pre-order bonuses and DLC (of which we haven't even seen yet.)You might as well not buy any game on the market as most of them WILL have DLC regardless.

You can write paragraphs upon paragraphs about how you think DLC is unethical and about how you're entitled to everything all you want. The fact is, you're not entitled to anything.

DangerousBacon said on March 8, 2013 at 5:09 p.m.

Disregard that last paragraph in my previous post. It has little relevancy to the subject at hand.

Aluppoj said on March 8, 2013 at 7:16 p.m.

I'm not trying to fight you.

I just want you to acknowledge that a company/game YOU LIKE is guilty of the SAME practices YOU attacked with SFxT.

A game you call "bare bones" that probably had a larger roster than Injustice MINUS THE DLC!!!

Keep trying, keep grabbing at straws.

I like this game just fine bro. I like SFxT just fine. I like DLC just fine.

What I don't like is the hypocrisy of your Picking and Choosing what games to attack!

Average week expenditures (during Major League Soccer season Mar-Nov)
$160 on food
$60 on beer
$60 on gas for commute
$60 on gas for 300 mile trek south to LA
$60 on food/beer at LA Galaxy games
$120 a week on LA Galaxy tickets for 4
$140 random/casino/bars/video games/clothes

$10-20 ain't nothing to a boss.

EvilRick said on March 8, 2013 at 8:16 p.m.

@41 Yeah right, you come onto me for nothing, calling me hypocrite, even when I haven't touched the DLC subject on these threads (my post on #21 doesn't say anything about DLC in case you forgot how to read)neither talke dto you in a while and everything because you're apparently still butthur over a discussion we had like, what? 1 year ago? 8-9 months?

Oh no, but you're definetly not trying to start a fight here. ¬¬

And don't bring up usernames "aluploj" Rick comes from Ricardo (my real name) which means "leadership" and you don't see me bragging about it.

Aluppoj said on March 8, 2013 at 9:31 p.m.

Lol, Rick.

That's the point Rick! You haven't touched the DLC issue in these threads. Because you happen to like this game! So you treat it differently than the boards you Assaulted 8-9 months ago!

These guys have DLC being made prior to launch! It's already finished content that is being purposefully kept off disk to sell at a later date.

And Boon has stated "Of course we'll have character DLC"!

That is pre planned DLC. Not post success DLC. Not afterthought DLC.

So either you've changed your stance from 8-9 months ago..... Or you are a hypocrite!

Get ready for mandatory patches, and storing DLC on your HD (even if you don't want it) for compatibility. It'll be mandatory updates that won't allow online play unless you DL their files.

Sol good, you all begged for it 8-9 months ago.

Aluppoj said on March 8, 2013 at 9:33 p.m.

And you spelled it wrong again. Simpleton.

EvilRick said on March 8, 2013 at 9:59 p.m.

@44 Why should I touch the DLC subject here when the only OFFICIAL anounced things are 3 pre-order bonus packs of altern costumes? (which look cool but I really don't care that much)

Unless you can prov me with an official source that they're in fact working DLC since early game developmenet your word is and will always be taken with a grain of salt, as much as it angers you.

But so far developers (Ed Boona nd Hector Sanchez) had only stated "Which characers you would like to see as DLC?" Another fact you can't prov otherwise.

I haven't changed my stance over DLC, I believe it is a current cancer on videogames as developers release less and charge more, but at least Netherrealm is not acting as devilish as Capcom did with their 12 complete characters and two sets of altern costumes for the entire cast of characters already finished and locked on the disc.

Storing on HD? HD space has never been an issue with me personaly so yeah, I don't care about that, I have a huge HD plus cloud, big deal...

So yeah, you can't officialy prove any of your states, and to be fair, I couldn't care less over your opinion, something I already stated to you, yet it seems you can't deal with that.

And @45 lol, it seem you can't understand mockery and sarcasm either "Laluplog". I don't give a flick about the meaning of your username so stop bragging about it.

Why are DLC plan before game release? aren't DLC suppose to be future addition to a game after complete? I really starting to hate the idea of DLC
now game companies spending to make a game and their DLC at the same time and giving you just the game and charging you for both expenses, then release the DLC for more money.

No one is complaining about DLC when it's well done, such as additional game content made after the game is released. People complain about on launch DLC where they remove things from the game, which are already on the disc you own, and sell you a tiny patch file that unlocks the content so you can use it.

TrueGamingGuru said on March 9, 2013 at 1:28 p.m.

@52 But still, even if its on launch DLC. The real problem in general is the gaming marketing itself, the real deal is Sony & Microsoft. This disc and patch file that unlocks content, has something to do with DLC tech. in general. In early years with PS3 & Xbox 360, thoes who didn't buy the DLC like certain levels or certain characters would be seprate from the players that bought the DLC, while other players get left in the cold. Look at SSFIVAE DLC for example where if you fight a player who didn't bought the AE DLC, the player youself (just example) can't use any of the AE DLC characters.

Even if certain content is within a disc, its really for certain purpose for ways of getting the DLC to work proper or something like even if players didn't buy the DLC they can still access certain players that got the file. Most DLC ends up having seprate files on your game. From the main game file to the DLC file and its not in file. However SFXT took up 1 file which is for main game & DLC when the disc locked content was brought up.

The real problem in general is the timed release dates, the console marketing itself, and the tech. that creates the DLC itself.

Third Party companies like Capcom, NRS, Namco Bandai etc. are nothing but puppets to the gaming marketing.

Mduff said on March 9, 2013 at 9:18 p.m.

You all are looking way too much into this. It's dlc. A way for a business to make money. I completely understand why they do the (PRE-ORDER BONUS!!) it's incentive to pre order it. It's also a way that neather realms can get an idea of how well the game is going to do on release. The stores actually pay the studios to give them incentives to buy at their stores such as Walmart, best buy and GameStop are doing with injustice. It's not all neather realms. If I owned a studio company I would do the same thing. It's a way to make money. I think it's selfish of YOU THE BUYERS are getting mad at them for wanting to make money. I mean, it is why they are making the game ya know. So quit being little panzies and get over it. If you don't like it don't buy the freeking game. Or better yet, make your own damn studio where you can make your own games and give it all away. See what you would do. Jesus.
