HD version of Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection was in the works, but Warner Bros. cancelled it

Back when Warner Bros. acquired Midway, and before they became NetherRealm Studios, there was an interesting project in the works, Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection HD. Featuring redone graphics and models, this product was cancelled, with Warner Bros. instead opting for straight ports of the original games that became the non-HD Mortal Kombat Arcade Kollection.

This all took place before the Mortal Kombat 9 reboot was released, and development was going to be handled by Other Ocean Interactive.

Some pieces of artwork were released though, by Jeremy Kohar, showing what a few of the new graphics would have looked like, including Mileena's new face model, and animal forms for Liu Kang, Stryker and Cyrax.

Since that time, a fan-man HD version of the original Mortal Kombat has been in the works, but as it's a community project, it's not officially sanctioned by NRS.
