Tekken Tag Tournament 2 sold 840,000 copies in Europe and Japan, according to Namco Bandai Tekken Tag Tournament 2's sales were apparently strong in the Japanese and European regions, according to a financial report that Namco Bandai released today.

They stated the game had moved a total of 840,000 copies in those areas, but the United States was notably absent from this list. We reported earlier that TTT2 moved about 67,000 copies in Japan during its first week of release, but it appears consumers really took a liking to the title in Europe and in Japan — shortly after it came out, to get it up over 800,000 in total sales.

For North America, the NPD reported that the game didn't chart in the top 10 for the month of September, but a source cited that it likely sold over 100,000 copies in that region.

Considering that Namco Bandai hopes to sell 2 million copies of TTT2 world wide, and we haven't even hit the holiday season, or had official numbers for the U.S. reported, it's possible they'll achieve this goal.

Namco Bandai also reported that Soul Calibur 5 sold 680,000 copies in the last 6 months in the U.S., Japan and Europe, showing the game continues to have legs.

There's been a good bit of doom and gloom surrounding sales numbers for fighting games as of late, but this news today shows there's still a solid market for these titles, but possibly not as strong as market forecasters predicted.
