Seth Killian: I've always felt character rankings in Marvel vs. Capcom games mostly miss the point As of late there have been quite a few tier lists from various top players coming out for Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3. Seth Killian, Capcom's Special Combat Advisor, posted his thoughts about these on his Twitter.

He brings up the idea of doing tier lists based on teams instead of a single character. Here is what he had to say.
Anyone want to do a credible Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 *team* rankings? I've always felt character rankings in Marvel vs. Capcom games mostly miss the point.

Top Marvel vs. Capcom 2 teams often had low-tier characters as necessary parts, and everyone got blown up by a tricky low tier team (with a great gameplan) at Final Round.

I agree that ranking EVERY team would be nuts, but ranking a few top ones would still say a LOT more than ranking characters in my opinion.

FGC ranked Marvel vs. Capcom 2 teams pretty effectively, and Capcom itself thinks a LOT about this question in the balancing process. I think the FGC can do it
