Capcom aware of interest for updates to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 - Sven on why MvC2 characters didn't make cut There has been quite a bit of demand for additional updates to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, so much so that Ryota Niitsuma (the title's producer) and now Capcom USA vice president, Christian Svensson have both weighed in on the subject quite recently.

Svensson stated that Capcom is aware of the demand from fans, and that he wishes they'd be able to make something happen, but for the time being they can't do anything. Niitsuma echoed similar statements.

Christian also discussed why specific Marvel characters who were in MvC2 didn't make the cut, and you can see that response after the jump.

CapcomJuNky: What steps are necessary to push demand for a update to Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3? We know that voices are heard through senior executives from the U.S. side of things, but how can fans impact the Japanese executives.

Svensson: Guys, we're aware of the interest and I wish we'd be able to make it happen, but for now there's nothing for me to talk about.

Bs957: Just curious, was there any reason why these Marvel characters were not in Marvel vs. Capcom 3?

Cyclops
Cable
Psylocke
Juggernaut
Blackheart
Venom

Svensson: [...] Decisions about character selections are a combination of what the team thinks would be cool, what Marvel thinks would be cool and ultimately how we get a mix of interesting styles and abilities. Additionally there was some desire to have some returning characters, but a fair amount of the new. The team wasn't just seeking to recreate Marvel vs. Capcom 2.

There's no malice in these decisions and certainly the ones you've mentioned were considered at one point, but for whatever reason or another, some other ones were prioritized over them.
