Is Capcom willing to re-use UMvC3's engine? Region locked games in the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary collection set With the upcoming release of the Street Fighter 25th Anniversary collection set, some fans were wondering if any of the games are region locked, since many on the Xbox 360 games are.

A Capcom-Unity member posted a thread on the Ask Capcom forums looking for some answers. Here is how Christian Svennson replied.
To the best of our knowledge, the only things in the 25th anniversary set that won't work in other territories are the digital items for PS3. On X360, all of our discs are worldwide subs and the token codes are identical regardless of what territory you redeem them.

On PS3, the digital tokens are region specific. You would need to have a North American PSN account to redeem, download and install them.
Hit the jump to see how Svensson replies in another thread where it is asked if Capcom is willing or would want to re-use the Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 engine in an upcoming game.
Good ideas all around. As you might surmise, there's nothing specifically I can talk about with regard to our future fighting games or the strategy surrounding them but I will say we have a variety of challenges ahead of us.

We have a current gen that is losing some steam at retail (retail software revenues down approximately 27% year to date) and our more recent fighting efforts did not fare as well as I would have liked, contributing to that downward turn. We have a looming next generation of hardware coming. And we also have PC to consider, with potentially changing business models all around.

Lots of things for us to work out as we consider the future of our business (not just fighting games). And as you know, it takes literally years (multiple) to make a game. It's going to be a little while until we're ready to talk about what's next.
