Seth details Cross Assault feature, 3/4 player option, in Street Fighter X Tekken
Seth Killian covered some really interesting information about Capcom's upcoming fighting games recently on the Unity live stream from Comic-Con. He talks about Street Fighter X Tekken, specifically the Cross Assault feature, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3 and Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition.
Lots of cool details here, and everything has been broken down into categories to make it more easily digestible. Hit the jump for more.
Cross Assault in Street Fighter X Tekken
• Important Note: This system is still being tweaked, and may change. This is the 3/4 player attack option in Street Fighter X Tekken you've seen in a few videos. It's activated by doing a quarter-circle away and pressing both Medium Attack buttons. Once activated, your Super bar turns into a timer and your teammate runs out on screen to help you attack.• While the timer is going, both of your teammates are now controlled by you, they're not computer controlled as some people have speculated.
• You have control over one character until you return the joystick to a neutral state, and then control will automatically return to your other player.
• You can do attacks that last a long time with one fighter, return the joystick to a neutral state while the initial character's attacks are still going, get control of your second fighter and setup some wicked damage and reset situations.
• Just like in the Vs. series, both characters can be hit when doing a Cross Assault.
Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3
• Seth said he has a big change list for UMvC3, but he's going to let people discover a lot of things for themselves.• X-Factor damage may change even more. X-Factor out of block stun is still there and there are no plans for it to be removed at the moment.
• The new HUD as a concept sounded really good at first, but some of the details in action weren't as good as anticipated. The lifebars being hard to read is something they noticed right away, but they didn't have the chance to go back and re-do them.
• Everybody in UMvC3 has been changed in some way, shape or form. Running from new moves to frame data alterations, or both.
• The new Team Aerial Combo system works like this: Use Up for additional damage, Down to gain meter for your team and Left or Right will make the opponent's team lose meter.
• Seth didn't want to get too 'nerdy' (see detailed) with the changes in UMvC3, although he said he enjoys reading the change list the community comes up with, seeing which things they discover first and some of the things we've gotten wrong.
• He didn't know if the returning characters will have new endings, or changes in UMvC3.
• Strider's Ouruboros is very strong, and because it is, it's a Level 3 hyper. Opinion on the development team is that Strider is really strong.
• Firebrand's power up hyper gives him some variations on his moves.
• He reiterated that they were turned down for MvC3 to add a Hunter character from Monster Hunter.
Street Fighter 3 Third Strike Online Edition
• Killian feels that SF3 3s OE has the best online gameplay of any of their fighting games.• Online Edition's replay system is really smooth, and it uploads right to YouTube. Capcom will have more details on it right before the game is released, though.
More Street Fighter X Tekken
• SFxT is faster than a SF game, Seth feels like Dhalsim is faster too, but he's not sure if this is a side-effect of how the game plays or if Dhalsim is actually faster.• Meter is required to do some of the "really interesting stuff" in SFxT, from how to tag your character out, creating setups to do the most damage, etc.
• No tag team super combos in SFxT currently. They were in an early version of the game, but they're no longer in there, they could be coming back, though.
• Seth said it's a good idea to have some boundaries for crossover games. There's plenty of crossover games that are sitting in the graveyard that went too far, and some of the draw of these games is having some limits on the franchises involved.
• Poison's move set is based on her attacks from Final Fight, although there's new stuff because the enemies in that game didn't have a lot of attacks.
• Rolento doesn't fit UMvC3, but maybe SFxT. There's definitely some Rolento love, but maybe not Rolento character love, though.
