An introduction to Wednesday Night Fights on IGN James Chen wrote an article for IGN talking about Wednesday Night Fights. This goes into how the tournament started and what it has evolved into, along with the current landscape of things. Here's a snip.
In Season 2, which ran from March to April, other players established themselves with consistent results, and generally the same group of players finished in the top eight. Combofiend played a few more weeks this season and would always finish strong, at least in the top four, while Clockw0rk would play spoiler every week using his trademark Amaterasu, Dr. Doom, and Phoenix team. Many players bemoaned that Phoenix, once transformed into Dark Phoenix, was "broken." Players who fell to Clockw0rk's Dark Phoenix often left the venue immediately after their loss in a "salty" rage. However, Justin Wong and Floe still finished 1st and 2nd every week they showed to the event until the final week, where Justin played an unfamiliar team and Floe was defeated earlier than normal. The overall season result? Justin finished Season 2 in 1st place and Floe finished in 3rd. Clockw0rk, thanks to consistently placing high all four weeks, finished the season in 2nd place.
This will be a series of articles, as Chen will break down where things stand every week.
