Guile was first confirmed to be a playable character in Street Fighter 6 on June 9, 2022. He was unveiled with a full gameplay trailer during the Summer Game Fest 2022 live stream.
The flash kicking classic world warrior made his first video game appearance on February 6, 1991 as one of the original eight characters in Street Fighter 2: The World Warrior. Guile is one of the franchise's most popular characters, securing a slot on the roster of every main Street Fighter series except Street Fighter 1 and Street Fighter 3, as well as appearing in spin-off titles like Marvel vs. Capcom 2 and Street Fighter X Tekken.
This United States Air Force major has undergone a visual design update for Street Fighter 6, bringing into the fold an older and more distinguished looking combatant. The most notable change to Guile in the latest entry is the addition of his facial hair, which includes a beard and for the first time, eyebrows. He wears a sleeveless blue military vest and jeans, as well as a white hoodie underneath.
In Street Fighter 6, Guile retains his position as a US Air Force pilot fighting for the good of his country. Now that he has successfully destroyed Shadaloo and avenged his friend Charlie, Guile enjoys his life as a family man, though new challenges await him.
Guile's move set in Street Fighter 6 will surely feel familiar to anyone who has played the character in the past. The core of his arsenal revolves around his Sonic Boom projectiles and his Flash Kick anti-air.
Also in his repertoire is Sonic Blade — a maneuver that places a stationary projectile on screen that can be followed up with a Sonic Boom to make the Boom more powerful. This move acted as a V-Skill for Guile in Street Fighter 5, but it returns in Street Fighter 6 as a standard special move.
Adding further depth to his arsenal are Guile's different supers. His level 1, Sonic Hurricane, can be fired both horizontally in front of him and diagonally upward as an anti-air, while level 2, Solid Puncher, sees the return of Guile's V-Trigger 1 from Street Fighter 5 now as an install super.
