In Shinnoks Imposter variation after he connects with a mimicry he gets a free mix-up. You can Forward grab them, back grab them, or go for a combo. This is a mix up because you can't tech while blocking and the forward and backward grabs you have to tech with different inputs.
This goes all characters. When trying to punish attacks, if you use a normal move it will come out 1 frame later because recovery from blocking is 1 frame. So trying to punish a move that is -6 will mean you need an attack with 5 frame startup unless its a special attack. Special attacks start up normally because they are reversals.
List of moves that can be stolen by Impostor's Mimicry special attack can be found in the Mimicry page's comment section here http://www.eventhubs.com/moves/mkx/sh...
Some stolen special attacks can also give Shinnok stolen brutalities, like Sonya's Leg Grab brutality.
Yo! BoneShaper has a vast move list! That variation with his Samurai Skin is gonna be Sick AF!!!
Shinok is a character I recommend to anyone who wants to play a good mix-up or combo game as his variations let him. He has a shoulder charge that knocks down opponents, amulet blast for a close range combo ender or a counter, and hell sparks is a good zoning tool, combo ender or an extender if enhanced (or EX version if you are coming from SF4).
Imposter is his most fun out of all of the variation but suffers from that it is completely match dependant. If you vs sub-zero you will steal his ice ball (which freezes opponents). But if you verse Kano you will steal his cannon ball. It is all entirely based on what the game is programed to steal so you are at the mercy of what your opponent chooses.
Boneshaper is probably most useful variation as it can cause big combos to equal big damage. His scythe can be used to grab his opponents and flip them on the other side as a combo ender but enhanced can create an opening to deal even more damage due to the fact it can enter the person in a juggle state in the air. He gains some nice normals which help with his combos. Overall I think it has the most potential in terms of competitive play.
Necromancer allows for Shinok to play a strong zoning game. Every move homes into the opponent but at the cost of being predictable. The flick can do the best zoning as it has massive knock back and does go by pretty fast. Judgements fist does deal the most damage but at the cost of being slow and predictable. But if you do hit the damage is worth it and it is a hard knockdown. The summoned fiend will grab the opponent to deal mediocre damage but enhanced throws the opponent in the air for more combo action if close. This form is a really good form and require a little less skill as Boneshaper but is less rewarding as boneshaper.
